Tub wouldn't drain so I called ACME. An elderly man named Bobby came, messed around with my tub and then something in my basement for 50 minutes and then came upstairs to tell me that this was just the way my tub is and that there's no fixing it. Charged me $84 for the visit.
I felt taken advantage of and called to give feedback. An angry man proceeded to lecture me like a child trying to justify the service charge. They're already more expensive than most of their competitors in this area and this is the garbage service they give?
Do yourself a favor and pick anyone else.
These folks are crooks! Who else takes your money and doesn't actually perform the task they were paid for. There's no honor in how this place does business.
I called Acme and asked for help with deteriorating cast iron pipes under my house. I thought I would give them another chance like everyone was telling me. Well they were wrong. I was wrong for even trying.
They never returned my phone call. so I got another plumber to do the job.
I would have loved to have given them a good review.
Jeff H.Look, when you have to call a plumber that means you are having a bad day-probably a really bad day. Acme does a great job. They have done something as small as a stopped up drain to a large job-replacing all the gas lines in my house and adding new air vents to include return vents. Clean and professional. I never worried about their employees in my home. They are slam dunk busy and might not get to you same day.
Highly recommend.
Imagine, you call Acme Plumbing to install a new sink, he comes to your house along with another guy, who you assume is an apprentice plumber. The licensed plumber does his work, the other guy stands behind him and does nothing. When the licensed plumber needed something I got it for him. The work gets done, you are given the bill, you pay and all is well, cost licensed plumber $157.50, the other guy, who you assume is an apprentice $135.00, plus materials, this was July, 2021. Fast forward to December 2022, plumber has to come back because new sink from last year cracked and had to replaced. Licensed plumber comes and again the other guy who you still think is an apprentice. Replaces the sink, you get the bill, licensed plumber $320.00 the other guy $272.00, 4 hour job vs 2 1/2 hour back in 2021. I find out afterwards that the other guy is not an apprentice, he is a helper. Both service calls, the other guy stood around and did not do any work at all, we paid $406 for absolutely nothing. Why were they part of the service, to us, this is a scheme to pad the bill, because more than likely the other guy, ""the helper"" did not receive the full amount charged. We found this out by talking to friends and neighbors. We have absolutely no problem paying a licensed plumber what was charged, but how does Acme justify the other labor charges for helpers. Is this a common practice? If it is I should have been told upfront with the proviso to refuse the other guy. We all want to save where we can in these uncertain times, and I feel like we were taken advantage of by Acme, we will not use Acme again in the future, we will not recommend them and we will ask the next plumbing business if they follow the same practice. This a lose / lose situation as we grew up with the Acme family and have used them for 30+ years, as did our parents before us.l
I had a main sewer line clog (with no working toilets or showers), and I called just before 10 am to see if someone could come out that day and look at it. The woman who answered said someone could, and she'd be calling back with an ETA shortly. Around 3:30, I still hadn't heard from anyone - it's right before the holiday, so I understood they might be busy or maybe couldn't come at all. I called back just to confirm they'd be coming today and was assured they're waiting on a technician to call them back, and that they'd be sending someone out soon and to expect a call.
Well, we called back at 5:20. The main office had closed, and no one had called to update us on anything - so we had no idea if they were just behind or not coming at all. I called back and reached the answering service, who immediately called a technician for us. A technician called us back within five minutes and headed over. He was AWESOME! Very quickly fixed the issue and was kind as all get out about having to come out after hours. Nothing but polite, made quick work of the job, and provided excellent customer service. He gets five stars.
However, I'm incredibly frustrated to be told repeatedly by the office that they would be calling soon only for them to leave us hanging. The plumber had to be frustrated too; he alluded that the office often promises the moon and leaves the technicians having to deal with the angry customers when they finally can make it out there. Again, can't say enough nice things about the technician - he was amazing - but had the office adequately managed expectations from the beginning, we would've gotten a hotel so we could shower and bathe, or we could've called someone else during business hours so this guy didn't have to come out at night during a holiday week. Five stars for the tech, two stars for the business.
James Denisse J.Great job!! This folks were awesome! From the sales staff to the installation team! I had the HVAC system replaced on my Aunt's house. Acme had always serviced my Aunt's home and done a great job! But it was time for a replacement so I wanted to make sure I was getting the best deal on a complete system replacement. I wanted a 3-ton Ruud AC unit with a new pad and heating system. I sent the specification to four local vendors and looked for a price comparison. We I was shocked!! The exact same unit with the same specs had a $3000 price swing!! In the end I decided to use Acme as they were almost $1000 cheaper than everyone else! Sorry for ever doubting you guys! Your price and service were the best! When I need my home replaced you guys will be the FIRST AND ONLY call I make! Thanks again!
Traci S.I recently had to have work done to connect sewer to the house. I chose Acme because they were working on my road already. Big mistake. They cut electrical lines running to my columns on my driveway, left the side exposed and buried the rest. When I first spoke to Stratton I got excuses that they aren't electricians Then I spoke with Stratton the office manager again and was assured they would take care of it. I've called and been ignored. It's going on three weeks now. They want to get paid. I want the damage they caused fixed. I don't recommend anyone using them unless you want a half added job done then have to spend more money to fix their scrappy work.

Do not use Acme Plumbing and Heating. I had a clog in my kitchen sink. An Acme plumber, Steven, came to my house an damaged my kitchen sink basket strainer. The lazy plumber wanted to rush so he jammed a K-50 Sectional Drain Cleaner through the basket strainer. No big deal. The next day I called and had another Acme plumber, Steve, come out and fix the basket strainer. Steve came in with a bad attitude. He told me that I should not be worried about damage to the sink. He told me that only two other people have ever called about this type of repair. He also told me that I should have told the original plumber, Steven, that I didn't want him to damage my sink. I was home alone and this second plumber was threatening, condescending, and rude. I called the Acme office and spoke with the manager of the plumbing division, Stratton. He was rude and made it seem like I was wasting all of the time. Do not use Acme. There are better plumbing businesses in and around Owensboro.
