I was assigned Acker Plumbing & HVAC from my home warranty company to repair my garbage disposal. Mr Acker was professional and courteous as well as gave me pointers to prevent the same issue from arising again. I would use Acker Plumbing & HVAC if I had the choice next time.

I was assigned this company through my home warranty. The plumber did not get in touch with me for five days, at which point I had to call the home warranty company to get on his case. Finally he promised me that he would make it to my house one afternoon. Upon that, I took off work for the afternoon and he called me in the afternoon saying he wasn't going to make it. His excuse was that traffic was going to be too heavy for him to make the drive....
Then, I called him this morning and he said he might be able to make it, but that he was in a different city and it would take a long time to get here. I then took it upon myself to fix the problem and promptly called to cancel the service.
Here's where I get really pissed. He is still getting paid by landmark home warranty for "his time" driving to my house. How about the six previous days he should have been driving to my house? If you have too much business, don't take more jobs.
As it stands, I am being charged by my home warranty company (they will also be getting a review) for nothing happening for 7 days, dealing with a rude plumber, and wasting time during which I should have been working.

If you get referred to this contractor from your home warranty company - RUN!
My experience echos everything below. -- Late, doesn't bother to notify you that they are coming late, demand work be done that isn't covered by the home warranty company and not to mention extremely rude. You'd think if they showed up 6 hours late, they'd be at least slightly apologetic?
Perhaps if you contacted them directly, you'll get better service?
I'm giving them two stars because they got the work done, albeit after I got my realtor involved who got hold of upper management at the home warranty company, suddenly things moved into place and 2 days later the work was done.

I called on Friday afternoon late and spoke to the owner Frank about replacing our water heater. I called 5 other plumbers on Thursday and Friday who never showed up and was very frustrated. frank was very understanding and polite and promised he would personally arrive Saturday morning. He arrived promptly and had to make 3 trips to buy extra supplies. He was at our home for 8 hours and then had to return for 2 more hours on Sunday. He did a great job, was very friendly and did not charge extra for working on the weekend ! I would highly recommend him !

Unfortunately I had this company coming to my house because they were the assigned contractor from my warranty company. Frank is the owner and he came here with another guy. First time they came there was a spoon jammed in my food disposal. I paid the $60 fee and after they tried to charge me more $100 for the service (of course it was not covered by the insurance company). It means $160 for a 5 minutes job where the guy took the spoon with his bare hands from my food disposal. No tools required!
Second time I opened another claim because there was a leaking under my sink. 2 minutes diagnosing the problem and a promise to come back with parts they left my house with a $60 check. Guess what? The claim was denied again... of course it is not Frank's fault... But my point is... He knows it's not fair charging $60 just for a 2 minutes diagnosing a problem and even so that's what he does. When I asked him if I would pay for the service out of my pocket he would discount the $60 fee he said "of course no"! Since any company will come to your house to make a free diagnosis I consider this a theft! Please if you want HONEST people coming into YOUR house, don't call these guys! EVER!

Extremely unprofessional. I had a leak in my kitchen, and was told by Acker Plumbing that they would be out to our home either that day or the next day at the latest. Did not hear back from them that day, so waited to next day all while I have water leaking in my kitchen. I had to call them the next day and was informed that I was not on their schedule and the reason I was told either one day or the next was if in case they had a cancelation. I told them that was unacceptable. He then replied, "It's not like we're sitting on our hands doing nothing". Terrible company with terrible customer service.

Just read the other one star reviews. They're spot on. He had no clue Landmark Home Warranty had even contracted him out, he no-showed several times, and eventually told me he wouldn't do the job and to have the home warranty company find someone else...after a week. You suck, Frank.

I never write reviews, but this one was so bad I couldn't NOT put it out there. The pilot on my water heater went out last week, so I submitted a claim through my home warranty. It was assigned to Acker on Friday afternoon. Since it was 4th of July weekend, I decided to wait till Tuesday afternoon to call (since I hadn't heard anything from them).
I'm going to assume it was Frank who I spoke to (he never gave me his name, but other reviewers indicate it was Frank). Frank had no idea who I was, didn't have any record of me existing, so I explained my situation to him and (at his request) texted the details. He told me he'd try to have someone out there later that evening. I didn't hear back from him, so Wednesday morning I call. He has no idea who I am and needs all my information again. He tells me he'll try to get someone out there later that afternoon, if not it will be in the morning. I explained that nobody would be home from about 2:00-6:00 but was not opposed to waiting until Thursday if he needed.
At 1:30 he calls me to let me know he's on the way and would be there at about 2:00. By this time I'd gotten my wife to be able to adjust, so I told him she was there and that would be fine and gave him her phone number. She missed the call from him so immediately called back, but he was already on the other side of town so he wouldn't be able to make it out that day. My wife arranges an appointment for 9:00-11:00 Thursday morning instead.
10:45 Thursday morning we haven't heard from him, so I call. He has no idea who I am, has no record of me existing so I give him all my information and he says he's just finishing the job he's on and then will head over, he'd try to be at my house by 11:00 but it'll probably be a bit after (at 10:45 he says this). At 2:30 I haven't heard from him so I call him, he doesn't seem to have any record of me existing or any idea who I am so I give him my information and he explains he's still installing the water heater but should be done in about an hour and will head over.
At 5:30 I haven't heard from him, so I call back. He doesn't seem to have any idea who I am or any record of me existing so I give him all of my information; he says he's still working on the water heater and should be done in about an hour. I explain to him that he told me that 3hrs ago and he goes off, yelling at me that he can only work as fast as he can and he helps people in the order they show up and if I don't like it I should call my warranty company and ask for someone else. Tempted though I was, I swallowed my pride and apologized because I haven't taken a hot shower in a while.
An hour later, for whatever reason, he calls my wife to tell her he's on the way. She's working, so she doesn't immediately answer but calls him back immediately. She explains that she's at work, but I am at home as I have been all day in a 90 degree house (my AC is also out, I'm having a bad week) waiting for him.
He starts yelling at my wife that he doesn't have my number; according to him, her name and number are on the service request (*note*, they're not) and yells at her that he will not be coming to our house so we're going to have to call the Warranty company and get a new contractor before hanging up on her.
I still have no hot water. I'm waiting on a new plumbing company to call me back.
*UPDATE*
I just received a call from Frank (it's Monday at 9:00pm, the last contact we had was Thursday at 6:30pm). He wanted to check if he'd been to my house. I gave the briefest explanation that he'd said he wouldn't come out so we got someone else. He made sure my problem was fixed and thanked me. He was quite polite on this interaction.

Frank told me he would be at my house between 1 and 3. At 3 o'clock I call him and he says he's running behind on another job and that he would be at my house between 4 and 6. I ask him to confirm my address he hangs up and does not call me back. I call the Home Warranty company because I am concerned that he isn't going to show. They call him and confirm the appointment.
Well, he never showed up and when I tried to call him at 9pm to see if he was coming or not the call went straight to voicemail.
If you want someone who is honest and reliable; FIND A DIFFERENT PLUMBER!!!!!
****FOLLOW UP****
The guy is a liar. Said he called me, then said he called my husband. He never had my husband's number and neither one of us got a call.

I scheduled an appointment for them to look and see if there was a leak in my plumbing. They said they would be here between 1:30 - 3:30. Not only did they not come or call, but when I called him at 4pm he said, "Well that's just an estimate. If someone else is taking longer we can't just leave them." Then, I asked, "Well why didn't you call me? I have been waiting here for two hours." He started getting old man cranky and said, "I've been in an attic all day. I wasn't able to call. That's only an estimate. Then, he wanted to schedule for another day. WTF! "I work three jobs and it is very difficult for me to take off," I told him. You should have called me earlier, or told me it was just an estimate yesterday. He started, "I just love people like you (People like me? Oh, no he didn't. You mean young, responsible, intelligent people?) tell me how to run my business. Then he goes off, "I've been doing this job for 71 years (love when people think that years of doing something is proof of good business), in turn I told him, which you've been doing wrong if you don't call your customers when you're not going to be there. Hey mister! Did you realize there's a thing called Yelp, and you can't get away with being rude to customers anymore. If your idea of customer service is not showing up when scheduled, not calling the customer when running late or needing to reschedule, and yelling at the customer for wondering where you're at, then no wonder you need a warranty company to drum up business. No customer is going to put up with that kind of your narcissism. It you can't hire or organize your schedule to make sure you make it to your customers' appointments, then don't make appointments at all. Just say I'll be there, when I'm there. I can tell from other reviews that you have a history of irresponsibility. You need to work on yourself, and stop making excuses.
