First of all, these guys are the big boys of plumbing supply. Professional. If you are looking for some doodad for your house, you'd probably be happier at Home Depot or the interweb. If you want to buy commercial grade stuff from people that have everything that you'd need for a commercial job, from people who know what they are doing, this is the place. I'm from California and I only WISH that I had a place like this near me. Appreciate what you have.

Well, they were nice enough on the phone and I would have liked to give them my business but they didn't really give me the chance. I called to see if they had something in stock. They said they'd call back. I called back when I didn't hear from them after a couple hours, they said they'd call back.....on and on. Sorry guys but you never called so I couldn't buy anything.

As a home-owner in the nearby South End for more than 40-years, I've had my share of plumbing and heating problems over those decades. And I've learned (because I've had to learn) how to fix or replace the occasional faucet set, garbage disposal and Taco heating zone valve which inevitably fail.

My go to store has been Ace Plumbing Supply for all those years. Physically, it is the most unprepossessing place to look at, housed in a windowless, single story, brick warehouse-like structure on a dreary, industrial stretch of Mass Ave.

You walk into a cluttered space with a haphazard assortment of plumbing and heating merchandise and are immediately greeted by genuinely friendly and knowledgeable staff. Once you explain your problem, the staff member knows exactly what you need, finds the parts, patiently walks you through the fix, and sends you on your way. Try doing that in one of the Big Box stores that every one thinks about when it comes to home repairs. Even more astonishing, Ace P&S is almost always just a little less expensive than Home Depot which is less than a mile away.

You are likely to spend less time in Ace P&S for the entire experience than you will waiting in the check-out line at Home Depot. In this place, the customer is king.
I've had this experience over and over again during the last 40-years. I'm not a plumber or a trades person, and I probably only go there a few times each year; but I've always been treated as if my particular problem is just as important as someone whose livelihood depends on it.

Don't believe me? Check it out for yourself. This place is a throwback to a great era most of us don't believe exists anymore. It's the real thing, and it's terrific.

These guys were really helpful and gave top notch advice for a little steam radiator fix-up/swap I was doing at my condo. They are patient and knowledgeable.

I'll be back to see them again.

Funny story: I was actually going to use Elijah (other reviewer) for the project, but he 1) didn't return my call, and 2) when I did catch up with him, told me what a tough project it was going to be...then I went and talked to these guys and we worked it out together in about 20 minutes, went home that morning and had it done on my own within an hour.

I broke the glass water gauge to my fur mace on a brutally cold night. Went to home d near by and they kept me there for an hour just to tell me they didn't have it. Next morning I go to aces and five mins later I'm out the door. Professionals and courteous.

These guys were terrific. I needed an under-counter water filter system ASAP because my plumber was scheduled to come the next morning. Not only did the guys at Ace give me great advice, but they hand-delivered the part to my door in Brookline on-time, free of charge. Prices were competitive with the internet, too. Wow.

As a plumber, I'm a bit ashamed that it has taken me this long to write these guys a review. Ive been frequenting Ace for almost ten years now and look forward to many more. As an apprentice, I was impressed that Bob and Kevin quickly learned my name and were always helpful even if I didn't really know how to ask for what I needed. Fast forward to when I was starting my own business; these guys were the first to open a line of credit for a fledgling business on nothing but my name. I can't possibly list all the little things that keep Ace as my main supplier, but in general, its this: they actually CARE. From last minute/after hours, deliveries to rushed orders, they always treat my business like it is theirs. Countless times I've watched Jim and Joe patiently listen while a weekend warrior described the problem they were up against with some thingamajig that was leaking from the doohickey, thinking to myself that I'd never have the patience... yet they always do.

This place was doing DIY before it was cool. Probably before the shorthand 'DIY' even existed.

Like the name suggests, this place has everything you would likely ever need in the world of plumbing (a lot more than the nearby Home Depot too!). The majority of their business is selling directly to professional plumbers, but they also cater to DIY folks.

The people here know their stuff and are more than happy to explain how to do whatever you want to do and help you select the equipment to do it. If they don't have exactly what you need they will tell you where to get it, not make the hard sell for something that might work.

Good, honest service, superior expertise, and a can-do attitude - can you really beat that?
