I refuse to give Ace Furnace any stars. They blew off our appointment last Monday 10 - 12. No show, no call. I gave them another chance. Called at 12:30 Monday. They were apologetic, said my experinece was ""bad business,"" and promised they would appear 9:00 - 11:00 Tuesday. Same thing - no show, no call, no apologies. I do not understand people who choose to be so discourteous. My wife and I arranged to be available those 2 days, on the company's assurance they would show up. To not follow through, and to not even give us the courtesy of a call, shows no dignity, and no professionalism.
No stars for you, and I hope other folks will have the chance to read this before calling you.

I can only comment on Ace's lack of service. After seeing their number on my water heater for ""fast"" service I called to make an appointment, leaving a message because they ""have a high volume of calls."" I then followed up with a text message because their recording recommended that it was faster. I did not receive a call back, but two days later got a text saying they were too busy and could see me in 3 weeks. I confirmed that was fine (stupid me), confirmed the time and date via text, and waited three weeks for our technician... that never showed and never called. Subsequent texts and phone calls inquiring about my appointment have gone unanswered.

Had Ace Furnace recently come by to fix a hot water heater, when I came home that evening after they said it was fixed it was not working and doing the same thing.
They came by the next morning and later that same day and said it was fixed and said if it did not work again they would have to put in another part.
It quit working again doing the same thing, then they sent the owner a bill saying that they told me that it needed both the parts when they first came by to fix it, they did not say anything about the second part until the 3rd time they came by to fix the same problem, I have text messages to prove it and they told us a lie!
This company was great for 20 years until it was sold and now we will never use them again!

This company deserves a ZERO!! ACE used to be my neighborhood furnace co. When it was ran by two sisters, the previous owner, it was a good and honest company. However, a couple years ago, when the two sisters retire, they sold the business to the new owner. Now, I found it is not a good honest company any more. ACE's technicians are not professional to fix problems.

On Wednesday, ACE's technician came to fix the pilot light of water heater. He changed a thermo and said it was fixed. On the same day, after the technician left, the light went off. The technician came back on Thursday morning re lit the pilot and said it was working. On Friday morning, the water heater was not working again. The technician came back again, this time, ACE said the water heater needs a new thermostat.

At that time, I decided not to have ACE to change a new thermostat. I called ACE asking an explanation to this service. A lady from ACE told me, loud and fast, that I am responsible to pay for changing thermo. If I am not happy to their service, they will come back to remove the thermo but I will still need to pay $125 for their consultation.

However, I was calling for repair, not for consultation. ACE did not repair my water heater, but, now I still receive an invoice for changing the thermo job. Thus, I will never do business with ACE again.

Called for an appointment. Jose was out the next day. Jose gave us a courtesy call when he was fifteen minutes way. (Thumbs up!) Arrived on time. Simple job -- easy fix. Situation was short and sweet. Jose is a nice guy and works efficiently.

They came out and replaced the main board on the old furnace a few months ago ahead of their promised schedule. No complaints...hope I get a few more years out of the beast.

We used them because my dad had used them the last 20 years. They came and installed the furnace in November but we've had nothing but problems since then. They came out 7 times and most of the times they came out, they promised to call back within 30 minutes and never did so we were always left waiting at home with no status until we called back, which was usually at the end of the work day. The technician cobbled together leftover used parts (bunch of corner joints in lieu of a straight pipe because he didn't have anything else) to replace vent pipes and that kept leading to backed up heat that melted the tape. We kept smelling burnt plastic going into the house. They finally replaced all the vents, but we still have some burnt plastic smell but now they refuse to fix it because they said the venting was never part of the original quote and we had to pay $1K more if we wanted them to fix the problem (even though the technician every time they came out had no idea what the problem was and told the boss they couldn't smell anything). We took a thermometer gun to zap the pipes and found out heat was backing up in certain parts, so it would fluctuate up to 200F+ degrees, melting the tape, and whatever else.

Every time we called this company, they wouldn't even listen to the problem and just scheduled someone to come out who had no expertise in troubleshooting the problem.

So, fast forward to March, we gave up and asked another HVAC company to come and look at it. There is a leak in the wrapped up unit, which is great, because it's been blowing asbestos all around. The wrapped pipes were not done very well because the tape was all loose and the wrap was coming undone. Now we have to get those pipes redone, they have to fix the leak, as well as the bubble wrapped pipes (and now we also have to do asbestos removal because Ace had glued the stuff onto the bubble wrap where the leak is).

Good luck if you go with them, probably depends on which technician you get.

These reviews are definitely hot and cold so i won't break the trend, i'm going hot for Ace, however only 4 our of 5 as I agree with one aspect of some of the poorer reviews - their customer service isn't instantaneous - it may take a little while to get a call back, and they don't accept credit cards which is inconvenient, but, they're an old school San Francisco mom & pop business and in the end they really delivered well on what they promised. They are busy in the winter months, and couldn't come same day to provide an estimate, but they came the second day and on the third they replaced my furnace at the very reasonable price they estimated. Other companies I called did show up immediately, but they wouldn't repair my old furnace, only replace and I didn't really trust that I had to have a new furnace, I wanted the option to repair it. Ace did offer an option for repair or replace, and in the end I chose to replace it. I think they're a solid, reliable, company - but a small local business, so don't expect them to perform miracles, but do expect some reliable, fair service from them.

This company deserves a ZERO!! I have used Ace once before and wasn't happy but was desperate because other companies were swamped. Honestly, I think the guy did an honest job, however, when he called to get a price for the part from the receptionist, she wasn't there, and never called back. The guy didn't have the parts and had to come back. Then we get a bill for $575. We asked the receptionist/owner?? to itemize the bill. She says if she does that, she'll need to charge us tax???? My hubby gets mad and she deducts $50. He wants to pay w/ Credit card, she says they aren't set up for that. Wouldn't you tell a customer that fact up front. What a scam. This company is a deservice to the community of Parkside/Sunset that they do business. They suck!!!!!!!

Our heater stopped working on Wednesday. I called Ace and was told they could send a technician THursday at 10:00 am. At 8:00 am, the technician called and said he could come EARLY if we wanted him to. Jose arrived and what a delight. He was friendly, courteous and most importantly, got the job done quickly.
