The company over charges!!! I was charged over 3000.00 dollars for an electric panel that should have cost no more than 2000.00. I called a few days ago about my furnace and I was told the part wouled cost 1500.00 so I should get a new one. Well I called Laclede and the replacement part and the labor was a grand total of 337.86 When they put it the electrical panel it was done incorrectly but I didn't know and I thought my dryer had gone out so I bought a different one for 300.00. Once the new dryer was installed and it didn't work I called a local electrician and he informed me of the problem was the pane!!! I will NEVER call this company for any type of repair again. And I advise anyone in need of service to call your local gas or electric company FIRST!!!

I notified Academy that I had a steam boiler and that one of the Pipes
That extends out from the Boiler was leaking. I needed someone to just
cut the Pipe and replace. As of today I have had a Plumber and HVAC tech
out. The Heating tech came out and said he needed the drain the boiler
I asked why I usually changed the Pipes myself for other that needed to be replaced. I have had other companies replace piping but I have never had so many problems jsut trying to get a pipe replace, Cut, retread ad union. That simple. The furnace does not need to be drained . This company is trying add time change.
I think That I will just call a plumber, which is what I should have done anyway.

while I appreciate the speed they came out to troubleshoot our heater (next day) I do not appreciate being held what I would
call hostage. Tony the technician came out and looked over the heater which at that point had started working again after stopping the night before. the first words out of his mouth after calling me downstairs to discuss what he found was ""I have to flag your heater and condemn it, I cannot leave it running since I've seen a pipe in the corner that has a piece of tape over it that maybe disintegrating. Then explains how the water heater pipe which we just had installed last summer was not up to code. The fact that he was flagging it and essentia leaving us in 20degree weather with 3 dogs caused us not to be able to price shop. I feel like it was intentional and they are nothing but pushing new units. installers Jerel and Jason were great and completed the install with no issues but I would recommend you use another company for heating/ac repair as Tony could condemn your system. By the way we bought the house 3 years ago new co2 alarms installed and no alarms going off I think it was a lie.

I called on Saturday Jan 28, 2023 to shedule a plumbing issue I had. I got an appointment for Monday Jan 30th, we waited all day, this was not the problem. Finally Elijah shows up and said that it is too late to start this job today, but he took pictures and made notes that the problem my require going into the walls or the floor. He called to get another appointment and they scheduled me for Wednesday another standby appointment. I got a call that Ethan could be there in 15mins again at 3;15. I was told by Elijah that they were aware of my situation and the job was very detailed and may possibly have to go thru the wall are the floor to repair this toilet! After Ethan assessed the issue he begain to say that it was too late to start this job and he would have to come back! I told him at this point I no longer wanted Academy Air to do anything for me, they have wasted 3 days of my time and I still got a problem. We proceeded to appologize for the situation and he then decided to put a band-aid on my problem! He placed shems around the toilet and caulked the problem toilet and told me he needed more time because the supply store closed at 4pm. Why did you make 2 appointments for me and never intended to do the work! Service really sucks in STL. I have been a landlord for 25 years and I have never seen anything like this! I can only speculate why we were treated like this, but it is not okay! If I ever call Academy Air for anything it will be a mistake! Let me also add that Ethan felt so bad that he placed the band-aid on my still broken toilet for free! Thanks again Ethan for trying to make a bad situation better! Such a waste of time dealing with Academy Air! My question is why?

Customer service doesn't exist. They say they have 24 hour emergency service. Called at 9:00 AM on Saturday. Got an answering service who took info and said office was closed till Monday but they'd pass the info on. After I had already called another HVAC service and had someone coming later in the morning, Academy called back and said they could have someone come on Sunday.
This is not the first time we've had scheduling issues with them. When we wanted an estimate on adding a dehumidifier, they could only tell us what day they'd come, which was several weeks away. The day before they were able to at least able to say afternoon. (Everyone else was able to set a specific appointment time!)
I'd give them a 1 star rating except that their service techs are great.

Very disappointed with Academy's Service! Have had an annual service agreement. Last spring the service person left the pic drain disconnected resulting in water spilling out over my floors. I was left to clean the mess up myself. Took days for them to get back with me. Promised no charge on the next service if I remained a customer. Called today (Oct 10) to make another service appt. for the heating system and was told that Dec. 20 was the soonest hey could put me on the schedule. Called 2 other companies and both could schedule me sooner, one the very next day.

So much for loyalty to customers. Academy does not understand good customer service. I will no longer be choosing Academy. They have failed me twice in a row when they really should be making amends for their poor service.

On 05/25/22, I had scheduled well in advance for the AC spring tune up for today and wanted morning scheduling, since I had a prepaid maintenance agreement. When I called, they said they would try and made a note that I would be scheduled between 8am and 10am, but it was still not a guarantee as to the time. Today at 1pm, I get a call telling me that they would not be able to provide service today, since they had emergencies and the earliest they could schedule would be August 3rd. I explained the same situation happened in the fall but I had to call them after 4pm only to be told they would have to reschedule at a later time for the fall Furnace Tune Up. Same scenario today, wasted most of my day waiting for them to show up only to be called at the last minute and get canceled. I asked the young girl to help me understand... is it you're short staffed or overscheduled? The girl tried to explain they had emergency calls with the recent warm weather. I told her we only had one week of warm temps and you want me to wait until August? She stated they are short staffed and are trying to hire more technicians and open appointments for Saturdays too and if they open appointments on Saturday, they would call me. She guaranteed that if our AC goes out for any reason between now and August 3rd, it would be repaired absolutely free. I guess a maintenance agreement, scheduling an appointment & my time has no value to them. I paid for the maintenance agreement for preventative maintenance. Who wants to have an emergency if their AC goes out and hope they will be available? Perhaps I should request a refund for the prepaid maintenance agreement and move on to a reliable HVAC company. I have been with them for 4 years and they were fine. The last two appointments that were canceled is really giving me second thoughts.

Called at 10:04 and said they would be on their way soon. It is not 1:00 and nothing. Terrible customer service, unable to contact anyone that can tell me anything, they just say something must have happened to delay him.

I called last week to have someone come out to give me a bid on running another duct line in the attic to our front room. They chose today as the day (i did not ask for immediate date). The time frame was 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. I received an email last night informing me they would be out as scheduled and would call before coming. I took off work for this. I figured they would be out early since it required going in the attic. 8, 9, 10 o'clock all come without seeing or hearing from anyone. Finally I get a call at ten to 1:00 from a girl asking me how I was doing. I( told her not good as we had an appointment that they did not make or call me about. She said yeah we are very busy due to the heat. I said it only takes 30 seconds to make a call. She again said how busy they were. I expected she was going to tell me the person was on their way- nope she said we will need to reschedule for Thursday. So if they chose the original day (not squeezing me in) how could they be so bad at the time management and just expecting me to take another day off work. They already owe me for a day's pay. The other issue is I was told it is not the technician that comes out for the bid - it is someone else so it could not be that a job was so hard that it pushed things back two days. Sounds like Academy Air needs to go back to the classroom.

Heads up with this place. Saw them on TV. They did get a great rating from B&B Took them over a month to get out there. The serviceman was supposed to clean the furnace, air cleaner, and humidifier. He spent forever downstairs then came up with THE SALES PITCH! Everything was working fine; so I didn't get it. Usually, repairmen just check your flames clean the furnace and off you go. This guy went up inside the furnace and said pinholes in the secondary and we were so lucky to get it in time. Carbon Monoxide. I googled and what I saw was that people still hadn't exchanged their heaters that were 100% worse than mine. Pencil point size. He also said I should change out my air conditioner at the same time. He actually turned off my furnace and was leaving me. I was so sick at the time. He never cleaned anything. I have an extended warranty and said I would check with them. The next statement from him was that he would give me a FREE furnace if he was wrong. Out the door, he went. I ordered 3 carbon monoxide monitors from Amazon. The warranty place said that is totally common on furnaces that are older than 3 years old. He said the man should have been looking at flames. Now they are calling me to see when I want my new furnace and air. Told them today do not call me back.
