I began my journey in the construction field at a young age. At about five years old, my father, a contractor, began taking me to job sites. As I grew older, he assigned me additional tasks and responsibilities. I started as a go-for and advanced to running crews by the age of 18. It’s safe to say that construction and service are in my blood.

My dad, who is about the last person to know whether or not he was going to get ripped off by a plumbing service, called to have our grandmother's water heater replaced. Quote? $6000. This is after ABT tried to get my dad to pay $11K for the ""high-end option"".

As soon as I heard that I was annoyed, and told him to let me call around, even though he'd already given ABT a deposit via check. Found another option here on Yelp that was much better rated. Price for the same service? $2500. When I mentioned that was so much cheaper than the quote I'd gotten before, they said, ""Yea, lemme guess, ABT."" Apparently the other plumbing businesses in the area know the con-job in their midst.

The ABT guy originally told my dad he could fit him in ""some time in the next few weeks"" after taking the deposit check, even though my dad explained to him we had no hot water. When I called to cancel the service, he called my dad an hour later saying he could do it the very next morning. How convenient of him.

Gross.

Do yourself a favor, don't use these rip-off artists.

Watch pricing. Used to be not inexpensive but ok. Lately, one plumber in particular, 3 or 4 times a market price.

I made appt to simply have a roof mounted Evaporative Cooler serviced for the season.
Tech shows up as scheduled. Tells me he's a plumber and doesn't really doesn't know about 'swamp coolers' and that he was going to call one of the other techs and ask what this involved. (??) At this point my confidence level dropped to zero that this service call wasn't going right. I explained to him how they work and showed him a diagram of basic principle of how evaporative coolers work and told him I only need for him to check it out so it's working properly. He had to borrow my ladder to get on the roof as he said his ladder probably wouldn't reach. (again, WTH? when I scheduled I said it was a roof mount on a mobile home) From the ground I had to direct him how to open
up the unit to access the inside, and how the cooler works. (Again, WTH ???)
I turned on the pump and could hear it was working, and he confirmed it while up on the roof. He comes back down and then tells me me minimum charge for the work to replace the pump would be $590. They use some kind of ""warranty plan"" for a job and you choose from plan A thru Plan E. Cheapest plan is $590 ....they don't charge by the hour.) Pump doesn't need replacing, filters do! Forget it. I'm sorry I called ABT. I paid the $68 for the service call and sent him away. I needed someone that knows what an evaporative cooler is and how it works. A total waste of my time and $68.

I called and scheduled a quote for a whole house electrical upgrade and some water pipes replaced. The scheduled time came and went with no one showing up....they did finally called at 7:00 o'clock in the evening. I asked them to reschedule and they have never called back. After reading some of the other reviews, I will be looking for another local company.....Thanks for nothing ABT

I appreciate the quick response that ABT provided within 24 hours. I discovered a leak on my ceiling yesterday morning from the shower area upstairs. Previous homeowner kindly reached out to ABT for assistance since ABT had recently serviced this home. Pressure reducing valve was needed to reduce the PSI. John arrived ready to take care of the problem. New valve was installed. He also checked to make sure leak had stopped at shower head and changed the cartridge. Again, want to thank this company and especially John for taking care of this issue. Much appreciated!

Stay Away if You Need Electrical Work Done!

I had scheduled some electrical work 30 days out due to their backlog of work and confirmed work ahead of me. I shared I was entering escrow on my home and this work was occurring during home inspections and was critical. Given it was so far out, they asked me to call them to cancel if I found another provider sooner as they understood the urgency of the work - I agreed to this and we confirmed the schedule. Two days before the job, I called to confirm the schedule and to review the problem and to ensure they had the right person, with the right tools to do the job. They confirmed and shared they would pass this on to the service manager.

Five minutes before the scheduled appointed two days later, I received a call from them. They shared they would be unable to come out to support this repair as they had another customer with an emergency. Given I had scheduled 30 days prior, shared this was a critical repair tied to a home inspection as part of the sale of my house, and needed this to be done this week at the latest, I was shocked by their decision. I complained that they had a choice not to take the apparent emergency business given all of the other electricians in the area who advertise emergency services, but to no avail . So i asked to speak to the office manager who was of course also unavailable. I was told she would call me back - I never rec'd a call back.

I did a few hours later I rec'd a call from the service manager, who I learned during the call is also the ""only certified electrician in the business."" Interestingly, he was also busy driving to this emergency call over an hour later after my scheduled appointment the same morning. In explaining my situation to him, he agreed with me that this should never have happened but was powerless given the front office makes these decisions.

So, I ended up calling Norris Electric in Auburn who installed my generator last year and explained the situation to them. They had someone onsite within 5 hours and the problem was diagnosed and resolved within another hour.

Note to self: Always find out the number and type of resources within the company you are dealing with. Had I known the service manager was the only certified electrician, and he is also the service manager of the entire business - and they advertise themselves as being able to support full service electrical work - I would have never engaged them. The front office staff at this company is also not to be trusted if you have something scheduled & critical.

I would not recommend using them for any electrical work as this is clearly not an area of focus, core competency, nor investment for the business, even though they advertise it as a primary service offering.
