I got a quote from 3 different heating and air companies to replace my old system. ABT got our bid. I'm very happy with their service and price. Their technicians, Matt and Dillon had to perform a variety of different tasks that required knowledge of carpentry, electrical and of course, heating and air. I was very impressed with their professionalism and positive attitude. The job was very extensive and the weather conditions were rainy, yet, even under those conditions, they powered through the job.

On a side note, they had a very good tech who had come out to fix our old system, that stopped working.

So, all in all, I would highly recommend them and not hesitate to call them for service or installation!

If you have money burning a hole in your pocket, Grass Valley, Ca. ABT is the way to go. I found out too late, that I could have saved more than 50% on some repairs, I needed done. The tank cost much more with them and the hourly rate turned out to be $ 400.00/ per hour. Plus no itemized invoice. Never again.

ABT called me twice soliciting a $49 ""tune-up"" on my HVAC. On the second call I inquired if their service person would change my furnace filters, and was assured it was part of the service. I said I'd have both on hand, to which he replied, oh they will be on the truck. The serviceman came, and I told him I wanted to be sure he changed the filter, bringing a cleaned, permanent type to where he was working under house. He alerted me he had called his supervisor because my air conditioner was so old. Deede arrived, announced my air conditioner was just going to go out without any notice, and wrote me an invoice in the thousands--$10,000 I believe. Of course if I signed up for a new one, she would wave the $49. I said I'd think about it, and asked the serviceman on their leaving if he had changed my furnace filters. He replied, no, I didn't think it needed changing!!! I also called them for a plumbing install of a new sink, inquiring if I were going to lose one drawer in cabinet. That service person said I'd lose 2 drawers and quoted $759. I looked closely at him to see when he was going to laugh and say he was joking. He wasn't.
My contractor installed, I lost 1 drawer, and the charge was $300.

Todd came to my home for what I thought was a simple fix. As it turns out, it was more complicated that we initially thought. Todd took his time and made sure the job was done right AND he honored the initial estimate. ABT Plumbing is awesome!

We had a hot water heater burst in the middle of the night and flood our garage. We called ABT Plumbing in Grass Valley, and from the first phone call to the final installation of a new water heater, the whole experience was professional and excellent.
The plumber who came out to our house is named Todd, and he showed up right at 9:00 am Monday morning. Todd was a very likeable person who demonstrated professionalism and confidence.
ABT stayed in contact with us before, during and after so there was never any guessing as to what was going on.
We're very happy with ABT and will gladly use and recommend them in the future.

ABT Plumbing came out for my water heater because the pilot light stopped staying lite. Having worked around house all my life, I checked it out and found it wasn't drafting because of dust build up since it's down in the raised foundation area of the home.

The water heater is not exposed to elements and I determined if anything the thermal coupler needed to be replaced. I would have done stuff myself but just had my knee replaced four days before so I couldn't walk let alone be up out of bed.

ABT sent out Dan Foss and my friend went down to show him where it was. He told she could leave and would get her when done. She refused, and before even checking the heater out, he said the entire heater needed replacing. She was a store manager for a plumbing and heating supply in the Bay Area and knew all the tricks. He gave all kinds of quotes from $5K to $500 to replace heater. She told him to leave and we would get another opinion. The existing heater has only been in use for 7 years. He wanted his service call money then said well it's probably the thermal coupler.

No more business for this company or recommendations.

When our water heater went out on a weekend, I called for their weekend service. It was not available. I asked for a price for a new water heater, to replace the one that failed. An ABT man came to the house on Monday afternoon and delivered a sales pitch for a $7000 tankless or a $4000 50-gallon conventional water heater. I told him he was way, way high. He went out to his truck and came back with a $2300 bid on the 50-gallon heater while I was on the phone with another plumber getting a bid for $1350, installed. The ABT man said he could waive ABT's $68 fee for his service call if I hired him. I pointed out that I asked for a bid, not a service call. It was like dealing with a used car salesman.

Reliability of ABT in estimating cost is a problem. Manager Kevin Bryan came to our house to evaluate the replacement of our furnace. He recommended a new equipment and explained very well the work needed for replacement and installation.

When we asked about the price, he took the time to figure it out. He said that total cost, including removal of the previous furnace, installation, electrical work, etc., would be around $9,000 and at the most $12,000. We decided to go ahead. We trusted his evaluations and were pleased with his familiarity with the job to be done and the new equipment.

Kevin then went to his truck to prepare the written proposal. After a few minutes, he returned. The new cost: about $15,000. The amount was well over the range he had calculated initially. He explained he had forgotten to include several expenses.

So, in no time Kevin charged $3,000-$6,000 more for the job! The major miscalculation in cost was hard to believe. Kevin had introduced himself as a knowledgeable ABT manager, with many years of experience both in the field and in the business. How come he had been so wrong? This reminds us of the car dealer who initially said the car we took for testing was ""below $14,000"" and then after we decided to buy it, the dealer came with the new price of $ 22,000 claiming that he had forgotten to charge some items and fees. The experience with ABT was not good.

He told me my furnace couldn't be fixed and gave me a quote on a new one. But when I called someone else to give me a quote he said the furnace could be fixed. The two parts were expensive but much less so than a new furnace. When I told him, he refunded the entire amount of the service visit.
