I received an estimate to install a bathroom in an unfinished basement last year. I was told by Able and Willing Plumbing in Chicago Heights, IL that they were licensed and bonded. I was also told that they would obtain the proper permits. I put down a $3600 deposit. On the day of the job, they brought in materials they had purchased for the job. Another contractor that I had on site, stated that they should not install a bathroom within 10 ft. of a circuit breaker box. At that point, I felt uncomfortable and halted the job. I've made several attempts to get my money back with no resolve. Treesa B.

I chose this company because the were ""local and familiar with the city of Chicago Heights codes"". I was clear on what the city was requiring to do and once the job and excavation was started, the owner Chris call to double the price of the job on me. The owner Chris is rude and unprofessional and I would advise you to stay away. Apparently having a written contract, a price set an a completion date does not mean anything to them. After I declined paying them anymore than the established price (per our contract) he threaten to keep my $1600 deposit for ""wasting his time"". Then he charged me for ""fuel, transportation and wasting his time $1600"". I have no water on my house at this time and I'm now out of $1600 to hire another company.

Called them for a toilet that was not draining, they showed up at 3:45 PM after waiting all day on them, left after 10 minutes to attend a supposed emergency and said they would come back the next morning at 8:30 AM, never showed up, none of there phone numbers were answered, we called another plumber who came and fixed the problem for way less then the estimate we had from these no-shows.

Do NOT! I repeat do NOT hire these people. I had a leak I couldn't find under my bathroom sink. But thanks to us leaving our toilet paper in that cabinet, the leak was soaked up by that saving the bottom of our cabinet and leaving evidence of an obvious leak. I called Able hoping for a professional opinion. All the guy did was run water for 10 mins and asked me was I sure I had a leak? I showed him my toilet paper and he said ""well I guess it could be the faucet?"" Like he was asking me. I don't know anything about plumbing so I have to rely on them, the professionals, to fix my problem. These people are anything but professionals. No booties on their feet, heck even Comcast does that, left metal pieces hanging on the pipes that fell off in my hand, and two plumbers never thought could be standing water in the pipe they removed so all that smelly dirty water fell all on the bottom of my cabinet. And when I called to complain about all of this all the woman could tell me was ""oh well it sounds line you're aggravated at something else."" Something else? I'm aggravated that I paid $399 for metal pieces to fall in my hand, a ruined cabinet. These people are not professionals. They don't even remotely try to be clean in their work. And their people in charge have a terrible attitude and don't what to take responsibility for anything and never even give you a guarantee on their work. Do NOT hire them!

UPDATE: about one week after this company's service, I am forced to call ANOTHER plumber. The facet they suggested and installed is leaking. And the pipe they recommended they replace is leaking as well. So if they thought I'd be forced to call them back to fix what they messed up, wrong. I can't say it enough, stay away from these people!!

Had a failing sump pump that was causing backups. I called this place Friday to see if we could possibly get someone out on Saturday or Sunday if at all possible but if not, we could make it till Monday.

I was told someone would get back to me soon to schedule an appointment by the person answering the phones. Saturday, Sunday and Monday passed with no call and the pump finally failed 100%.

Called again Monday evening to see if someone could come out Tuesday and was told someone would definitely get back to me this time.

Tuesday by noon, still no call. Called another company who scheduled me for that same day, came out well within the window give and finished the work in about an hour and a half. It was more expensive than I wanted, but well worth it considering the headache.

I still have yet to ever receive a callback from this company. I'd be afraid to see what happened if they did work that was no good and not be able to get a hold of them.

I contacted Able Plumbing to install a hot water heater. I was told the installation was $399. I completed their online form to receive $75 off the installation. The plumber arrived within the time frame I was given. The plumber then looked at the job,and said he thought it may take two people to do the job. He then looked at the hot water heater than I had purchased and told me I could not use it. Which I appreciated. I contacted the store and arranged to return the other hot water heater. The plumber offered to get me a price on a new hot water heater provided by them, and installed. He went out to his truck and came back in a short time later and told me that the cost would be $1,550 to install a brand new 40 gallon nature gas hot water heater. He then told me it would be $800 to install the new hot water heater that I was going to get from the store, and to add insult to the situation, I had to pay $189 service charge.

In the end I used the $75 credit and got the service charge down to $114.

I then returned the used hot water heater, and purchased a new one for $40 more, $240 total. I then stopped at Auburn Supply and found a heating and cooling contractor who installed the new hot water heater for $125.

They added a back flow preventer to our building. A $6000 job (had to be all paid up front...and now I know why).
After failing the inspection. They did not properly bleed the air out of the system after coming back 2 more times to fix leaks in the installation.
The inspector also called for a some PVC pipe to run to the wet well for drainage. After asking them to complete their work it was explained it was ""not included"" and required $550 more for $50 in materials and 30 minutes of work.
They are a scam. AVOID THEM like the plague folks.

They replaced our sewer line six years ago. Last week, it broke away from the house in the midst of sub-zero weather. We called and told them it was an emergency. This was at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. They promised to have a plumber dispatched. Two hours later, we called back and the dispatcher said ""I already placed a call. You will have to wait."" Well, we found someone else to come out. All the work had to be redone both inside and outside our home as Able did not do the original work to code. Even the city inspector said none of Able's work was to code and they apparently did not get permits!

The new work cost us $5,000, and we still haven't had a response to our two emergency calls. If they had put gravel under the outside line as required by code, this never would have happened. Stay away!!

We wanted to like these guys. They were personable and seemed to know what they were talking about.

But they not only could not unplug our toilet, but they left a mess and put two holes in our kitchen ceiling (the bathroom is above the kitchen.)

The couple who cleans our house WERE able to clear the tub (at no extra cost) and they left no holes anywhere.

Able and Willing also convinced us to replace a toilet and, looking back, I'm not sure that was necessary. We won't be calling them again.
