We've probably had one of the Able plumbers out to our house at least 2-3 times over the past few years for the seemingly almost semi-annual snaking of our 54 year old main sewer line and they have always performed this nasty task quickly, effectively and courteously. We finally needed something a bit more complicated after our 9 year old water heater (with 8 year warranty...UGH!) decided to finally take a water dump in our garage.

This time we had Travis, the owner out to do the emergency repair & replacement & was simply impressed with what a true professional, personable, knowledgeable and just all around cool guy he is. Explained very clearly what needed to done to install the new heater, some unnecessary connections that had been installed by the previous owner and even some suggestions as to how to slow the growth of tree roots that are causing our main sewer drain to back up annually.

All in all if I'm going to have to fork over any of my hard earned money on a home repair (that I SHOULD be able to do myself) it's comforting to know that the work was done by a true professional and a nice guy.

I called Able to Plumbing out recently and am ecstatic with the results! Felix ROCKS! Ever since we bought our 45-yr old home, there have been back ups. Felix acted as a detective. He used a snake on our sink basin in the garage and knew it didn't solve the entire issue. He found the right clean-out and took time to flush it. It was completely clogged from years and years of grease. No other plumber had ever attempted to address that clean-out.

Not only is our kitchen drain all clear, our sink basin in the garage no longer backs up when we do laundry!!! This is the first time since owning our home that our sink basin no longer backs up when the washer is draining. Other plumbers just said there was nothing else we could do.

I had Able to plumbing update my 1926 home and they did a great job!! Since it is a family owned business I spoke to Courtney most of the time but they translate to each other perfectly. Travis Able ""the owner"" was always on site and he did most of the work himself, I felt very good about that. The job was done on time (early even) and the inspection went perfect, in fact the City of Livermore inspector praised them on the work they had done!! I would defiantly recommend Able to pluming to anyone and I have lived in Livermore my whole life, thanks guys for doing such a great job.

Travis has really come through for us on a few plumbing emergencies.
He even make a house call one night at 10 PM whem water was dripping down the wall, he didn't even hesitate he just came on over. We would never call anyone else for our plumming needs. Travis and his staff are trustworthy and very helpful and most of all great at what they do.

We had Travis, the owner come out at 6 PM on a normal workday for which he charged $110 for what turned out to be a 5 minute visit to fix our water heater.

Positive:
Did try to help over the phone to resolve the issue before coming out in hopes of resolving the issue over the phone.

Negatives:
It seems that there were 4 major issues with the water heater, which were not discovered by Travis.

1) Issues with the thermocoupler that caused the pilot light to repeatedly go out.
2) Pilot light when lit was orange in color, which indicated other issues with the gas connection
3) Carbon monoxide leak!!!
4) Water leak that over time would topple the water heater over.

All 4 issues were discovered by PG&E when they came over a few days after Travis' visit to look at the water heater because we experienced the same issue again with the pilot light going off.

My suggestion is to call PG&E before calling a plumber. They have a FREE service to troubleshoot your water heater and air conditioning and heating systems when you experience issues. They seem to have way more experience and inclination to find out what the real issue as they do not have a vested interested in charging you for their time.

I would warn against calling this company. The overall impression was that a thorough inspection was not done during the visit. The issues were so grave that AO Smith is essentially replacing the water heater which is under warranty, so I find it difficult to believe that a more thorough inspection would not have discovered any of the issues discovered by PG&E.

A simple statement when looking for a plumber: We had confidence in them.

We are not helpless home owners who bindly trust anyone. We like to ask questions and do a lot of DIY major projects around the house.

We called for a diagnostic and partial clog cleaning because we simply didn't have the time to do it ourselves.

They were very professional and he knew what he was doing.

I had called Able Plumbing and spoke to Travis about some possible repair work.
Travis came out and I showed him where the problem was, Travis started to proceed with his work when it came to the bottom of everthing he cost me160.00 for the plumbing repair work and left me with some unnecesary repairs and expenses that I did not have before. I now have an unnecesary hole in my kitchen ceiling that I have to repair, a mess of sheet rock in addition I had to fully replace our garbage disposal due to a nail getting jammed in there and scrap metal in my bathtub. This is someone I will never hire again.

We had a pipe burst and water started leaking through the wall and soaking the carpets. I spoke to Travis, the owner, and he was totally professional. He sent Mark out to help us and I was really impressed. Mark diagnosed the problem quickly and managed to cut the dry wall, cut out the damaged section of pipe and weld in a fix without making a mess. He was really knowledgeable and a real nice guy. I highly recommend these guys!
