We had Travis, the owner come out at 6 PM on a normal workday for which he charged $110 for what turned out to be a 5 minute visit to fix our water heater.

Positive:
Did try to help over the phone to resolve the issue before coming out in hopes of resolving the issue over the phone.

Negatives:
It seems that there were 4 major issues with the water heater, which were not discovered by Travis.

1) Issues with the thermocoupler that caused the pilot light to repeatedly go out.
2) Pilot light when lit was orange in color, which indicated other issues with the gas connection
3) Carbon monoxide leak!!!
4) Water leak that over time would topple the water heater over.

All 4 issues were discovered by PG&E when they came over a few days after Travis' visit to look at the water heater because we experienced the same issue again with the pilot light going off.

My suggestion is to call PG&E before calling a plumber. They have a FREE service to troubleshoot your water heater and air conditioning and heating systems when you experience issues. They seem to have way more experience and inclination to find out what the real issue as they do not have a vested interested in charging you for their time.

I would warn against calling this company. The overall impression was that a thorough inspection was not done during the visit. The issues were so grave that AO Smith is essentially replacing the water heater which is under warranty, so I find it difficult to believe that a more thorough inspection would not have discovered any of the issues discovered by PG&E.

A simple statement when looking for a plumber: We had confidence in them.

We are not helpless home owners who bindly trust anyone. We like to ask questions and do a lot of DIY major projects around the house.

We called for a diagnostic and partial clog cleaning because we simply didn't have the time to do it ourselves.

They were very professional and he knew what he was doing.

I had called Able Plumbing and spoke to Travis about some possible repair work.
Travis came out and I showed him where the problem was, Travis started to proceed with his work when it came to the bottom of everthing he cost me160.00 for the plumbing repair work and left me with some unnecesary repairs and expenses that I did not have before. I now have an unnecesary hole in my kitchen ceiling that I have to repair, a mess of sheet rock in addition I had to fully replace our garbage disposal due to a nail getting jammed in there and scrap metal in my bathtub. This is someone I will never hire again.

We had a pipe burst and water started leaking through the wall and soaking the carpets. I spoke to Travis, the owner, and he was totally professional. He sent Mark out to help us and I was really impressed. Mark diagnosed the problem quickly and managed to cut the dry wall, cut out the damaged section of pipe and weld in a fix without making a mess. He was really knowledgeable and a real nice guy. I highly recommend these guys!

I will give them no star if I could!!!

Just used their service last week. They did the job except one. I kind of have feeling that they didn't know what they were doing for the unfinished job so I stopped them before they further damaged my home. I later found out they over charged me (WAY MORE) for those finished jobs (since I have other plumbers looked at the unfinished job).

In compare to other plumbers I later talked to, they do not have the right tools and are so less experience. I will NEVER NEVER NEVER use them or refer them to anyone. And so regret I trusted them first time and didn't ask for second bid since they were referred by my friend.

Also, they didn't clean up the jobs well. And they did not wear booties when they walked around the house while others plumbers did.

It was nice to get a decent price on a Sunday night for an emergency, but when the problem couldn't be fixed and the property managers couldn't work with him on something he got aggravated and left. I paid $168.00 for nothing but a mess in my driveway, poop all over, and the cap left off of the main pipe going into the ground so when everyone else flushed and showered it would drain in my driveway. Not happy at all. Some plumbers came out the next day and fixed it (the problem was too many people in the place flushing down lame things like baby wipes and other stuff. hello people!) and i'm stuck with a bill for nothing.

I had a serious flood in the downstairs bathroom, called Able to Plumbing around 8:30 am. Travis came around 9:30, found what the problem was. Brandon came to the house around 11:45, installed a new toilet, problem fixed. Great service, will absolutely call them again.

First of all, Travis from Able To Plumbing actually answered the phone on a Saturday night, something that none of his competition were interested in doing. I gave him a quick run down of our situation and he said ""No Problem, I'll be there in about half an hour"", and 45 minutes later, he was here. I was expecting to have to wait until at least tomorrow morning. He was very polite and diagnosed our problem quickly and fixed it quickly. He told me why my husband hadn't been able to fix the problem (we had a wrong part sold to us by Orchard Supply Hardware) and charged an extremely reasonable amount of money for the repair, especially when it was done on a Saturday night. I can't recommend Able To Plumbing and Rooter strongly enough. This guy is awesome!
