Jonathan M.I've had the absolute WORST experience with this company!
They scammed me into their monthly club, and it's been nothing but downhill ever since.
First: They canceled my appointment to have a new dryer vent duct installed without telling me. Their customer service people (including a manager) all maintain that they don't offer that service, but their technicians all maintain that they do (ended up going with a competitor [Black Diamond HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical] who did it without batting an eye and charged a reasonable rate too).
Second: They charged me a small fortune for a furnace install that required a separate visit from a plumber to hookup a humidifier. I was supposedly the first call of the day on a Saturday, and more than 2 hours after my appointment window, they still hadn't shown up.
Third: After finally getting the plumber out to hookup the humidifier, it started pouring water onto my basement floor. He and HVAC guys apparently neglected to hookup the drain for it.
Fourth: After getting another HVAC guy out to hookup the drain (took him two visits as he had to get parts), it STILL drains water all over my floor!
FIFTH: I called for service on Monday to get someone out here on Saturday to fix this, and NO ONE SHOWED UP. I sat and waited for the entire day as I couldn't really leave town to run errands, and my entire day was wasted!
And this is how they treat someone spending $17 a month for ""premium"" treatment!
It took 3 different appointments to clear a clog. First an estimate then someone to clear the clog and another to put a camera in the drain. Then they tried to tell me I needed to have my plumbing replaced.
Thy-na N.Can't believe Google backs this company! Called into the lady to let her know what we needed to do. Install an exhaust fan into a bathroom and asked for an estimate. All she said was okay and when are you free. That's IT!!! The tech was very nice but came 30 minutes late according to the eta of the call. After being late, he came in for five minutes and proceeded to charge us $49!!!! For a five minute quote! That was not disclosed at the time to the call! This company is a complete scam! I called into customer service to complain. Irving answered the phone. I told him the situation and he started to laugh and giggle!! What kind of customer service is that?! I don't know if he's laughing because this is normal or if it's his unprofessionalism and thought my situation was funny. This angered me even more but he laughed and said you'll get a call maybe Monday. All he said it's I'll take a note and they should have disclosed the fee. Should have!!! Even the tech asked us "" they did tell you about the fee right...?"" That means they do this all the time to scam their employees! This is beyond ridiculous. And it's back by Google! We'll see if they even call us... Never been so insulted to have a customer service rep laugh... Irving is beyond rude and unprofessional.
Ann A.Absolute complete scam and rip off. All they wanted was to sell us a new furnace and ours was still under warranty. Our furnace was turning on but not staying on. We called ABC because they were in the Best Pick Reports book--that book needs new listings!!!! They are terrible. They came out late in the day after I had to inquire if they were even coming. Charged us $99 and said we are not sure what it is but we think it is your board. So they were to come back the next day at 3:30 after I had my kids home and they called at 1:30 and came earlier. He would not start until I paid him, he wanted $341 for labor. Or I could do $241 if I did the service plan. I said we do not want the plan. When I finally got the checkbook, then he went to start the work. He was not done at 3pm and I had to leave. He was to stay in the basement for 30 minutes while I was gone but he did not and I do not know why he came up into the house. Anyway I came home and went to check on him and our kitten was down there which is how I found out he had left the basement. It was only 30 minutes. Not cool.
Anyway he was still here at 6:30 and had changed the board and some other part and none of it worked. Or so he said. So no heat that night. Next morning he comes back and I do not know what he did or did not change and came upstairs and said I do not know, you may need a whole new furnace--but it's under warranty. So he said well a warranty guy will come out. When? Late today I hope? Another night of cold..... Oh but it will be $357 for diagnostics----are you freaking kidding me!
Wouldn't you know the idiot left and after putting it all back together--it worked. I am not sure why it was not staying on but it worked once he stopped putting voodoo on it. I completely feel like he was trying to break it and forcing us into buying a whole new system. Absolutely horrible. Do not call them!
Total rip off...steer clear from these crooks. My In-laws called them to get a quote to add lights to their 3 ceiling fans...they were quoted $900!!! And that didn't even include the parts...we ended up finding the light kits at a local hardware store and I installed myself in under an hour...as you can see from the picture..they tried ripping them off for other services as well..
Bad, bad first experience! Called for a sewage block on a friday night. The guy who came out made a total mess of our basement spraying sewer water all over when he rodded into the house rather than out towards the main. Didn't clear the clog and tried to tell us we had a collapsed main! Had a second guy out the next am and he took only 5 min to clear the clog. No apologies from the company! We had to throw out hundreds of dollars worth of food and other goods from basement due to contamination. Will not use this firm again!
If you have ABC out to check your furnace and you are told your heat exchanger is cracked, by all means spend a few more bucks and get a second opinion from another HVAC tech, NOT a second opinion from an ABC tech. I recently had my 10 year old furnace cleaned and I was told that I had a cracked heat exchanger and was in immediate danger of dying from carbon monoxide gas. I was quoted an exorbitant price to replace the entire furnace. The tech tried to scare my by ""condemning"" my furnace by attempting to place a red tag on it and turning off the gas. Not only that, he produced a membership card from some unknown ""HEAT EXCHANGE"" certification society with his name on it. We also had to sign a form that said he was not responsible if we died from CO gas. When we told him we would get another opinion from a reputable, experienced, outside tech, he abruptly picked up his papers and left. I think he was upset we would not let a sales associate from ABC give us a quote for a new furnace. (He also told me that my humidifier was about to fail, but it was repaired and the fan was replaced 2 years ago). I had the outside tech come in and he thoroughly inspected my furnace in all aspects. It received a completely clean bill of health and was found to have NO CRACKS! I was not intimidated by these tactics and neither should you, but to be safe GET A SECOND OPINION. It is well worth the cost and could possibly save you THOUSANDS of dollars. I will NEVER use ABC again because of their deceptive and borderline fraudulent practices. I also terminated my Advantage Club membership immediately after this - this membership scheme is just a way for them to get into your house and rip you off, in my opinion. I have kept all of the written documentation from this episode and am considering sending it to the Illinois Attorney General's Office of consumer fraud.
I scheduled an appointment to have my furnace and A/C tuned up. The tech turned on the thermostat and went outside for approx. 2 minutes. He came back in and advised me the A/C unit is cycling on and off and needed to be replaced (even though it was working fine.) He wanted to have a salesman come over that same day but I said no. He serviced the furnace and charged me for a tune up on the furnace and a tune up on the A/C even though he did not tune up the A/C. I paid the bill and he left. I had to call their company to have them refund me for the A/C which the still haven't done almost a month later (very shady.) I had another company come by to service my A/C and he told me it was working find and was not cycling on and off. I will never use ABC again. They are just out to sell you on the big ticket items rather than being honest with you. How does a company like this stay in business?
Do not use-they are a bunch of scammers. They wanted to charge me over $1,100 to detect a leak. I told the tech he was out of his mind after he quoted me. I used a different company and ended up paying $150 for the service.
Ro S.My toilet needs the fill valve kit replaced. ABC plumbing does not fee by the hour and by the project. Received quote for $539 for a part that causes $20 at Home Depot. Great technician doing his job but the Company is ripping people off. I work in related industry this should not be more than 1 hour of labor plus parts and material, which should under $175. Again stay away from ABC Plumbing unless you don't mind flushing your money away.
