My 90 year old grandmother called Abbott's because her toilet wouldn't flush. The technician came out and found the chain detached from the rubber flapper. Within 5-10 minutes the chain was reattached and the toilet was working. She was charged $189 for this. She was also told that if it happened again ""the system would have to be rebuilt"" and that would cost an additional $324. I by no means am a plumber nor do I claim to know a lot about toilets, but I do know how and have installed a toilet flapper before and it certainly didn't cost $189. I'm also very curious about the ""system rebuild"" they were claiming the toilet would need? Sounds like a clear case of a company taking advantage of the elderly. Be careful when choosing this company for your plumbing work. I don't mind paying for repairs, but I do mind dishonesty.

Just was notified that the extra expense which was added to my bill for locating the part was refunded. They definitely care about the customer.

Had to shut off our main to the house due to our tub leaking (and no secondary shut off). Called this morning after having a no show from Roto-Rooter yesterday. Made an appointment for 4pm, and when I got home (at 4) the guy was already here ready to work. He was in and out within an hour, and while I thought it was a bit pricey for 30 minutes of work ($563), I'm just glad to having running water again (after 2 days without).

Have known for awhile that my main sewer line was probably going to need to be replaced. I've had an insurance type policy through BGE Home to help cut the cost when the time came and had an estimate from them for the job. I decided to call around to compare and just get a few more quotes and opinions. Abbott's initially came out and said there would be a fee to video the line before they could give an estimate so I apologized for the misunderstanding and said I wasn't going to get the estimate. That was on the weekend.

First thing Monday morning, the manager from Abbott's called and said he had gone through the weekend calls and realized there had been a mistake and I was told that in error. They absolutely were not charging me to video the line to diagnose and give an estimate. He said he still wanted a chance at my business and offered to send someone out that day to give me the estimate. Right then I felt that the customer service was already top notch! I was impressed that they cared enough to pursue me as a customer and correct the miscommunication over the weekend.

Richard came out and spent a few hours videoing the line and reviewing all of the options with me. To make a long story short, I spent the next several hours calling him back with question after question. I was upfront with them about my policy with BGE Home and my inclination to use them to take advantage of that policy.

In the end, Abbott's matched the price for the trenchless replacement offered through BGE with my policy (which was an incredible match!!!!!), came out the NEXT day to complete the job, arrived on time, and warranty their work for LIFE. Even BGE Home said they understood why I had to go with Abbott's!

Richard, Vince, Pat and the rest of the crew who completed the work were all outstanding. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable and incredibly patient with this crazy lady who asked a thousand questions about the replacement. I feel confident the job was done correctly, it was inspected by the county, and it is one less thing I have to worry about now! Great customer service

Excellent service the whole way through. I had an emergency situation with a clogged main sewer line and a house with 4 young boys in it. They were able to get me scheduled for the following day and did an amazing job! Rich and Hal get special shout outs for explaining everything and being courteous and good natured the whole way through while i peppered them with questions. Abbott's Plumbing really deserves the 5 stars!

Abbott Plumbing came to diagnose and then repair our new Noritz Tankless waterheater. We have been struggling with this for more than a year, first installing a larger gas line to satisfy the Noritz expectations (took 9 months with BGE). We now have a direct gas line from the meter (now new and high pressure) to the Tankless. The Noritz was installed correctly with our Geothermal by a top geothermal installer, but when this lemon acted up, they admitted it was too advanced for them to fix. Noritz ikes to put callers on hold for a really long time. This cost us an extraordinary amount of money (which should have been covered by the Noritz warranty).

Anyway, Chris diagnosed the problem(s) and two key parts were sent to us next day by Noritz. Tankless works now.

Thanks very much. Now I hope Noritz honors the fact that we started with this issue long before the first year labor warranty was expired.

Abbotts plumbing is the best plumbing company in Baltimore area. Their staff is very professional and knows their trade inside and out. They leave the house cleaner than when they arrived. I feel comfortable leaving them access to the house when I am not home. For any residential Plumbing needs, Abbotts is the only company to call!

Nice guys but never gave us enough options. We had a sewer line problem and it was an emergency and they responded quickly. My wife talked with them but I feel they did not give us enough options. After talking with other plumbers after the fact and doing some reading I realized we had many cheaper possible solutions. I wish they had offered to replace our old galvanized water service when they had the trench open from doing the sewer line replacement. After they backfilled the trench we had a water line break that day while they were backfilling. They promptly came back and fixed. The next day a manager came and offered to redig the whole project and replace the water line or just fix what they broke for free. The replace project was quoted at another $1000. I said no just fix the break they had done. Well three weeks later the line broke at a different spot. We had signed a waiver saying any future breaks would not be covered. After calling a bunch of plumbers they all asked why we did not replace the line when the sewer was being done. Apparently old galvanized pipe gets brittle when exposed and after backfilling and settling will more than likely break. Which it did. So after an addition $2300 with another plumber( Stephens Plumbing and Heating) we are all fixed.
Abbotts were very responsive when I had some issues with the water meter cover ; which the broke. And with the grading job of the sewer line. But I feel they did not explain the whole process and it cost us more in the end.

Have used them several times for minor repairs. Always prompt and courteous. Face it, household repair expenses are high, but I find their prices fair and they offer discounts and coupons. Very pleased with their service.
