We have a family rule about only doing business with a company when you actually get to talk to the owner. Abbey Plumbing exceeds that requirement. Dan Abbey is the one who not only returned my calls personally, but is on site with his guys!
I had two drips in my basement. I thought they were small issues, but like everything, they were symptoms of larger issues. NO up-selling! Legit issues. Crumbling (""friable"") pipes! They showed me everything before doing anything. Called me to inspect what they found. Asked what I wanted done. NO pressure sales!
Quality work by competent, friendly, hard working, clean guys. Put tarps down everywhere. Not a sign they were ever here, except that my drips are gone.
I highly recommend their quality work and friendly manner! Oh, and I asked around, and their prices are amazingly honest.
Steven C.expect to get bumped at least 3xs when they schedule an appointment. Rude and unprofessional phone conversation with Dan Abbey.
Beth Y.My relocation service use Abbey to perform hvac full inspection. I tried to schedule an appt with them 10days ago, they cannot accommodate weekend schedule due to holiday etc etc. so, I scheduled them on a weekday and took a vacation day and drive 90 miles to let them in. They cancel the appt 10mins before they were suppose to show up. They were 'nice' on the phone but definitely unprofessional. Very disappointed.
I will never use Abbey again. I have used them for the past 3 years for the same problem on my oil heater. Every time I get an appointment time and they are never on time or just don't show. I initiate contact and they say that they will be out the next day. This last time was absolutely it for me.
My heater wouldn't fire up. I called abbey since they fixed it last year, assuming the part and work would be under warranty. They scheduled an appointment for Thursday between 12-4. Shannon at the office calls me at 11 saying they should be out in an hour. 2 oclock, still nothing. 230 I get a call saying they will be there in 15 minutes. An hour later the tech shows up. Says the same part needs to be replaced etc... I was at work, my wife was the one home. I get home and call Dan at 630 and leave a voicemail to find out what was going on. At 6 am I get a text from Dan saying it might not have to be replaced, he is going to come out this afternoon and check it out. At 5pm I text asking when he will be out and he says that he will be out tomorrow (saturday) at 11 to check it out. 1 oclock on saturday and I text him and he says he will be there in 30 minutes. 90 minutes later he shows up. Same problem, bill is for 595 dollars. My wife calls me pissed. I talk to him, he says that he isn't sure why the part is shorting out but he will take it to the supply warehouse at RE Michel and ask them since they do the work on the brand heater I have. I ask about a warranty or anything covered and he says it won't be covered because his work was done right. This was last saturday. Still haven't heard from him 8 days later if he went to the warehouse. I guess he assumes I will just call him next year and spend another 600 bucks to keep refixing it.
I have never left a bad review about a restaurant, company etc. I still wasn't going to leave one about this until he didn't contact me back. It's incredible that he could treat customers this way.
Michael S.~Extremely poor customer service by Dan Abbey with Abbey Plumbing & HVAC.
~After the installation of a tankless water heater ($$$) in 11/2013 I was offered a one time free maintenance in approx. 18 months which would have been 5/2015. I was assured they kept a record of it and would contact me for scheduling the service. No one from the company ever contacted me.
~I contacted Abbey Plumbing to schedule the service. I was initially scheduled for 7/10 at 9am-10am. Dan Abbey called at 8am indicating they weren't coming. Strike one!
~I was rescheduled for 7/22 at 7:30am-8am. No one ever showed up or called to cancel/reschedule. Strike two!!
~I was then rescheduled for 9/22 from 10am-2pm. At 1:20pm Dan Abbey calls and says his guy is running late and what my timing was like. I reminded him my time frame was 10am-2pm and that he had until 2pm or would have to come back after 4:30pm. Dan agreed upon that and was going to call me back. Since I didn't hear from Dan I called him at 4:46pm. Dan needed to call ""his guy"" and figure things out. No call back by 5:17pm so I called Dan. Had to leave a voicemail message. Around 6pm I spoke to Dan and he indicated ""his guy"" went home at 5pm after he finished a job. So Dan agreed to come himself after he sorts some things and would call back. I believe it was after 6pm that Dan called back and said he can not make it. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???
Dan rescheduled for today, 9/23 from 10am-11am. He shows up at my door 10:59am.
Performs the necessary work which took all of an hour.
~Apparently Dan Abbey and Abbey Plumbing & HVAC could not find 1 hour from 7/10/2015 to 9/23/2015 to service my water heater.
~They have frustrated & inconvenienced me for the last time. I find it hilarious that their emergency 24hr service line is not in service.
this company sucks i called trying to get work done on my home since i had a leak that turned into my home flooding and the receptionist hung up on my several times with out even knowing the nature of my call then i called back asking to speak with the owner and she hung up on me again. to me this is not a professional business to deal with they are rude and disrespectful and dont deserve no business by and respectful person. i hope the receptionist reads this and see that she is the reason the business is going to go under cause if you cant get through on the phones how are you suppose to let them know the work or offer you are asking about. thank you for reading this and i hope they get a better person to answer their phones so they can get some business before they lose to much business cause of a RUDE person!!!!!!
Doug T.Just before Thanksgivings, when our hot water heater stopped working a friend referred us to Abbey Plumbing. So we promptly called and Tom showed up a few hours later, which was great considering it was during the holidays and we called in the afternoon. Tom was very polite and respectful. He sounded knowledgable and confident. After a very short assessment He said we needed a new water heater.
We agreed to have Abbey replace our water heater. Tom said he'd have to order it. There were three sizes to consider, Tom recommended the larger one. He said the water heater and installation would be $2,300! WHOA! Astronomical!!! Tom confidently explained that this water heater was an advanced combo water heater that is the only one that will work with our furness...
OK....... Tom proceeded to proclaim all of the advantages and warranties, and ""Top of The Line,"" ""State of the Art Technology,"" etc... Its the holidays, we're feeling generous, we need a water heater, Tom sounds like he knows what he's talking about, what the hell... put it in.
It took 4 days before Abbey recieved the water heater. They called and said they will bring it by in the morning. Great, someone will be home to let them in. That morning 7:30 a.m. I am on my way out the door to go to work and I am greeted by a monstous box on the porch that says, ""WATER HEATER."" No abbey person or truck in sight! I called and got the answering service, who passed on the message.
Later that afternoon, around 2 p.m., Tom calls and says they will be by in the morning to install the water heater. The next morning Tom and a worker show up to install the heater, saying it should all be done in a few hours. I return home after work. New heater is in and we have hot water! GREAT! Unfortunately, within 3 hours, we had not hot water and NO HEAT IN THE HOUSE!!!
I called Tom, he said he would be out the next day, but not sure when because of previous appointments. Tom shows up that the next evening, does a quick assessment and says, the relay switch is faulty and that he could repare it for $400 and charge me another $75 for a new thermostat switch which was a lower, older and cheaper model than the one we had! WHAT??? I said, Tom, come on man! After going back a forth, Tom said I was trying to take advantage of him.
Tom relented and said he would have his worker install a new relay switch at no cost. After the new relay switch, which looked dusty and old, was installed, we still had no heat! When I called Tom, he said there was a problem with our system, and he would have to charge us for any further work.
I had no faith or trust in Tom. I called another service (Walsh Brothers, Inc.) to assess the problem. They came out did a 15 min assessment and said the relay switch was not put in right and it fried the curcit board in the combo system! They put in a new curcit board and relay switch and everything has been working like a gem since then!
Steer clear of Abbey Plumbing! High priced! Shabby work (did not put things back together that they took apart)! Wants to blame the customer when things don't work! Tries to soak you for more money by selling you inferior products at high prices! The are not considerate of your time schedule!
My grandmother told me, ""If the fish don't smell right, don't buy it!""
We were assigned Abbey Plumbing via our warranty company which is the only reason I could imagine they have any business. To determine the damage for our broken water heater they gave me a six hour window and still managed to show up 35 mins after the latest time. Their ""investigation"" lasted all of 3-4 minutes.
Next I was informed they would stop out on a Thursday to take some measurments (this is now seven days after I lost hot water) however upon calling to see when they'd arrive we were informed they had no employees in the field that day. Perhaps the technicians and their schedules don't communicate?
Finally one week after our intial problem my wife and I were told they would be out at noon. They inexplicably arrived forty minutes early and when my wife could only make it back in 15 minutes (she was at a doctors appointment) they cancelled the appointment and rescheduled for Monday. A complete joke of a company. Avoid at all costs.
Bryan C.I've used Abbey Plumbing and HVAC's services twice in the past year. Both times I thought they did a fantastic job. Pricing is good and the service is fantastic.
The first time I called Abbey was right after Christmas. I walked into my basement to discover half of it covered in 3/4 inch of water from a leaking water heater. On the advice of a neighbor, I called Abbey Plumbing. I spoke to them on the phone, he was already familiar with my house configuration from doing others in the neighborhood. Looking at the age of the water heater and doing some basic googling, it was pretty clear a new heater would be the best course to fix the situation (the water heater was from 1998, so it was end of life).
Dan Abbey recommended a couple of other items to prevent damage from leaks in the future, especially since I mentioned I planned on remodeling the basement. So he put a drip pan underneath the heater and a PVC drain pipe to the sump pump basin. That way even if it leaks in the future it won't get all over the floor.
Dan knew that living a few days without a water heater, when you have a family with two young kids, is tough. So he volunteered to install the unit on New Years Day if I wanted. I didn't want to impose, but I appreciated the offer even as declined it.
THe scheduling was easy, he was on time every time, the office called with updates on arrival as promised for the 2-hour start window. Everything you want a service call to be.
Abbey Plumbing was assigned to work on our house by our home warranty company, American Home Shield (AMS). When Abbey Plumbing set the appointment, I made sure I was not working in the office so I could be home to let them in. When the time frame they had given me was just about past, they called and asked if they could come another day. I rescheduled them to try to be more flexible for them. The second appointment was made on time. When he came in, he started working on the things that he had been contracted for. When it came to the faucet handle adjustments, the employee did not know how to remove them. While he worked in another bathroom, I inspected the faucet handles and discovered that they could be removed by removing a small screw on each handle. I informed the plumber and he stated that he could not adjust them because he did not have a tool small enough to do the job. He had come unprepared.
After installing a toilet kit and clearing a backed up pipe, he collected the $75 surcharge that we were responsible for and left. A day or two later, the toilet kit that he replaced was getting caught on the flushing handle. I called Abby Plumbing and asked them to come out and to adjust it properly, as the toilet now ran worse than when he had worked on it. He said that this was the first time he had worked with the kit and instructed me to call the toilet kit manufacturer and ask them about the warranty and to have them replace it. I was shocked. I told him the kit was not the problem, but that the way he installed it was the problem. He needed to adjust it properly. He informed me that I would have to call American Home Shield again and set up another repair call. That could result in us having to pay another $75 surcharge.
Do not use Abbey Plumbing. They do not do quality work, they come unprepared when they do come and they don't follow through when they do shoddy work.
