Abacus Plumbing was established by Master Plumber Alan O'Neill in 2003 with a singular aim: to create lifelong customers through exceptional service. With a focus on putting customers first, Abacus Plumbing has risen to prominence in Houston and has gained a solid reputation nationwide.

Abacus introduced Air Conditioning & Heating to its service portfolio in February 2012. In its first year, the Air Conditioning & Heating services catered to clients in Houston.

We called Abacus due to a shower back up. The technician had no idea what was wrong but charged us over $500 to power wash the pipes. We flooded again the next morning because it was a sewer back up. When I called to complain I was told they wouldn't have known that. Who would know what the problem was if not the so called "professionals"? They were supposed to call me back after I called to complain but I have not heard a word back from Jonathon after leaving a message. I would never use this company again.

I strongly do not recommend Abacus. I contacted Abacus on Friday 10/27/2023 because my hot water was not working. A tech by the name of Thomas Howell came out and informed us that our tankless water heater needed to be repaired. He explained they did not have the parts available and informed that they could place an order for the parts and he would return to install them on Tuesday 10/31/2023 which we agreed and paid in full $694.61 for this repair. Thomas returned on Tuesday timely with the parts it took him about two hours to complete the repair. Once he was finished the hot water was working I thanked him and wished him well. Less than 6 hours later the hot water stopped working. It was after business hours so we sent an email explaining the situation which we still have not received a response.

Today 11/1/2023 I called and explain that my hot water was not working. I was told they would send someone out between 8-12 to take a look. Rickey Belt arrived timely and took about two hours when he informed me that our water heater was actually damaged beyond repair and we needed a new one. He then said he would call a manager to explain the situation to see what they could do to further assist us. He came back and informed that our options were to pay them 6k for a new water heater or they would offer a partial refund for the failed repair which we didn't need from the start because again the water heater is damaged beyond repair.

I explained to him we would like a full refund a partial refund is absolutely unacceptable. He said he completely understood and apologized and said we would receive a call from a manager today. I never received a call. I called them around 4:17 PM. I was told by a very nice women in customer service named Jenn that management was gone for the day. She apologized and informed she would ensure I received a call tomorrow by noon. I am still without hot water. I do not recommend this company I would have given 0 stars if I could. I understand that as humans we make mistakes both individual that came out were polite and professional. Although Thomas did not diagnose the issue properly, my frustration is not with him because again he's human. My issue is with how management is handling a mistake made by an employee at Abacus.

All we are asking for is a full refund nothing more nothing less. If I cannot trust you do a job that I paid $694 for, why on earth would I give you 6k. I missed work twice to stay home for this repair yet I still do not have hot water. We have a small child and this is very frustrating. Had we been told on Friday that we needed a new water heater we would have just paid for one. I will share my experience with my neighbors, family, friends and clients. I will not stop sharing my story until I receive a full refund!

Very pleased with their installation, maintenance and customer service. The technicians are top-notch and the warranty is better than others. My new HVAC system is great! Called to ask a about a sound I wasn't sure about and they sent someone out immediately at no cost. Turned out to be nothing. I would highly recommend.

Home maintenance lesson learned through Abacus. I hate when people come and do scare tactics. Is the furnace inducer really out of tolerance if it is rated for 1.52 but you get 1.56. Then he waking around the house for CO like is it really emitting CO. Meter read zero the whole time. Do really I need to pay $2798 including a $1798 dollar part. Do I really need air duct cleaning for $998. Heck I must need a new furnace. Then he stayed out side my house in his van for 45 minutes calling the head office. Looks like the price shocked him as well, or the fact that I said a second opinion was needed. Because he never said I shouldn't run my heater or we need turn of the gas to the furnace. The office called me trying to validate and defend the price. So, I call the company I have used for past three years for a second opinion. The company I dealt with came right out because I was freaking out that this guy could have potentially purposely broken my 4 year old furnace. All just to scam me. The part is normally $300-$600 depending on what you need is what I was told not 1798 dollars. Turns out nothing was wrong with my system. Thank God, but it feel grimy your dealing with people like this you don't trust them. So lesson learned don't get maintenance deals for $59 because what they really need is about $4000. For now on I will stick with the company I have always worked in the past or take personal referrals. O yeah , Get second opinions.

Home Depot had a sign in the window reading something like "it's hot a/c service day of," I bit thinking Home Depot would not soil their reputation sending a bad company. A company called Abacus plumbing Air Conditioning & Electrical did call in a couple of hours. I explained the symptoms to their tech when he got there. He immediately said bad compressor. However I had him check the Capacitor & Contactor first. The contactor on the compressor side was faulty . Quote to replace the contactor ( retail price $20.00) was $470.00 plus $100.00 for a service check charge already paid (usually about $69.00). Not sure but it felt a whole lot like price gouging. I turned down the repair and went to johnstone supply purchased a contactor for $20.00 and installed it in 5 real time minutes. If I had not known a little about Air Conditioners a twenty dollar fix would have cost $570.00. I am going to report this to Home Depot hopefully they are not a party to this and stop referring them.

Our experience with Abacus was quite pleasant, informative, and educational. David Turcios, the technician assigned to our case to repair our LED light in our pantry, which is ~ 10ft+ high, was the consummate professional. He explained in quite detailed fashion what the job would entail and followed through his assessment marvelously! If we have other electrical needs or other services provided by Abacus, we will request David be assigned to our case!!
