This is an update to my review from October 2021.

Had a water heater installed. It was recommended that I get a water pressure valve installed too. I think that was about $300 more, but it sounded like a good idea.

Today I have a plumber out to fix a leak in my yard and....it's the water pressure valve. Wasn't installed very well. New Plumber says, "You just got this? There's old piping around it. Looks like they did a quick job."

Just called Abacus and they said the can get someone out tomorrow (I'm losing a half gallon of water a minute!), and there's no guarantee they'll say it's their problem.

WHy didn't I call Abacus for my new issue (leak in the yard near the street)? Because they came out a few days after doing my water heater and gave my wife an INSANE quote (from $800-$4,000 depending on the work done) on a leak with my HVAC.....which I was glad I got home in time before she signed it. I fixed that small crack in a tube was duct tape! That killed all my confidence with this company.

This extra plumbing job to fix their problem is going to cost me $700!!!

I recommend avoiding Abacus.

We have been waiting for over 2 weeks to get our A/C installed. We have had 2 times that they come out and don't have the correct supplies. Incompetency is their only attribute I see at this time.

Would not recommend.

They came out to replace a socket and that was fine. Then he suggested replacing all the sockets, due to age. He explained there were price break downs by number, and the best pricing was for the 75-100 socket category, even though we don't have near that many. He wouldn't reveal the pricing for less. So he's typing away, using the 75-100 socket count, and then asked if we knew about their coupon. No. More typing, and then he has to leave the room to call his boss for a senior discount approval. He comes back saying he applied 5 coupons to the estimate and the senior discount and it's $5K for the whole house. I don't need gimmicks, and we will call anyone else, as long as they give us straightforward price estimates.

I was pleased with my first experience using Abacus. I was having a new fridge installed and the original 42 yr old water spigot for the water/ice maker started leaking inside the wall and needed replacement. Andrew came out on Friday afternoon and assessed the issue. Unfortunately it was right after the parts supply closed. No prob because he came back out Sat morning to finish out the replacement and installed a new flush mount box for easy access. He was very thorough and even helped me hook up the water line to the new fridge and helped me move it into place. Saved me having to call out Home Depot to finish the install.

I know plumbing services are expensive, and this project was pricey, but when you factor in the parts, service--and then a friendly, knowledgeable tech on top of it--it takes some of the sting out of the high price.

I'd definitely use Abacus again.

I called to have my A/C unit worked on and waited all day for the technician to show up. After waiting ALL DAY, without someone showing up, I called to find out where they were and when they'd show up. I was told that because my A/C system is less than two years old, it's their policy that they don't work on units less than two years old.

I asked why? I'm the homeowner!! Why didn't someone tell me? All they said is "I don't know why you weren't told or called and that's our policy".

If you look and read at my Yelp you will see honest opinions and the plumber who took care of our sink was fair and right . Great pieces of advice .

I found myself calling for A/C emergency service. Abacus actually answered the phone. Joe came out and diagnosed bad compressor. No charge for the visit. I was promised a compressor repair estimate. Next day I was told no compressor could be found for my unit. I called myself with S/N and model number in hand and immediately found four in stock. In the meantime I received my Abacus emailed estimates for complete unit replacement. One came in about $10 grand and the other 15. Since my unit was still cooling at night I decided to get a second opinion. The morning of that appointment Joe called. I asked for the initial promised estimate for compressor repair. My response on call back from Joe, was that his manager refuses that repair because of liability issues. Looks like I am stuck with replacing the whole unit, right? Wrong. My service for second opinion finally arrives. Clogged drain line. $178 to blow the line. Beware of Abacus A/C "service". They are selling units, not repairs.

i called them as my new dryer gave some shock one time. This company came in and charged us to change just one electrical outlet for the dryer alone and charged 400 plus dollars for half hour work!!they also recommended we change every electrical socket for another 2k. Just plain attrocious .

This place charges a fortune for services that can be easily self performed. I was charged $425 to replace the components inside of the toilet tank. Would have been helpful if the plumber let me know that this service can be easily self performed for under $50 (in less than 1 hour). Do your own research before calling this company.

For both electrical work & plumbing, I scheduled Abacus to come out and assess. The two experiences were weirdly similar. I asked them a specific question (changing out a bad outlet for example) and then they focused their attention to other parts of the house. The estimates for jobs that should cost hundreds of dollars ended up being more than $4000 each & included multiple things I did not need.
