James has been in the plumbing industry since 1979. Achieved his Journeyman license in Louisiana in 1985. After moving to Atlanta in 1985, he earned his Georgia Master license by passing the required test. In 1987, James and Sylvia moved back to New Orleans. James passed the second Louisiana Master license exam in 1992. He contributed to hurricane relief plumbing projects in Texas. He earned his Pearl River County Mississippi certification in 1993, but it lapsed when job opportunities dried up.
