A-1 Plumbing: Poor Workmanship and Unprofessional Conduct

I recently hired A-1 Plumbing through my home warranty to repair a leak in my kids' bathroom. While the warranty covered the plumbing repairs, I had to pay $700 out of pocket for the removal and reinstallation of the bathroom cabinets. I specifically asked before the work began if the cabinets would be properly reinstalled, and I was assured they would be - unfortunately, that was not the case.

Poor Workmanship and Damage to My Home

After cutting open the drywall to reach the leak, the workers made only a crude attempt at patching it up. They didn't bother to properly seal, sand, or finish the drywall, leaving the repair blatantly visible and unfinished. The patched area was left as an eyesore in my bathroom.

Up close, the sloppy workmanship is even more apparent. The patched section of drywall was left with rough, jagged edges and an uneven surface. It's clear they took no care to restore the wall to its original condition.

The cabinetry was reattached crooked and not level. One corner sat higher than the other, and it wasn't even flush against the wall. This misalignment was immediately noticeable and clearly showed that the installers hadn't taken the time to ensure the cabinet was properly aligned or secured in place.

There were also visible gaps left between the cabinet and the wall, as shown above. In addition, the cabinet's doors and frame were misaligned due to the shoddy installation. The doors did not line up correctly or close evenly. The entire installation looked rushed and highly unprofessional - far from the level of quality I expected from a professional service provider.

Unprofessional Conduct

Beyond the poor craftsmanship, the workers' behavior in my home was extremely unprofessional. For example, they:
* Used inappropriate language while on the job.
* Made unnecessary, disrespectful remarks about my dogs.
* Kicked a bag around inside my home, causing loud banging noises.

This kind of conduct is absolutely unacceptable in a professional setting and made me very uncomfortable in my own home.

Lack of Accountability and Failed Attempt to Fix the Work

When I called A-1 Plumbing to complain about the poor workmanship, they initially refused to accept responsibility. The company even claimed that my home was ""already like that,"" which was completely untrue. I insisted they address the issues, and they eventually sent someone back. Unfortunately, instead of properly fixing anything, that worker used a nail gun on my cabinets, leaving numerous unsightly holes on the exterior. Their so-called ""repair"" only caused more damage to my cabinetry.

Even the inside of the cabinet was not spared - several nails punctured through, marking up the interior as well. When I confronted the worker about all these holes, I was told to just ""use some nail glue"" to fill them in myself. This dismissive response showed a complete lack of care for quality or customer satisfaction.

One of the workers even admitted, ""That was the best I could do,"" essentially confirming that they had no intention of meeting an acceptable standard of workmanship. After numerous calls, I finally reached the owner of A-1 Plumbing, who offered to come by and inspect the work. By that point, I refused to let them back into my home -- especially after learning that the offensive language I overheard earlier had actually come from the owner himself (who hadn't realized I was within earshot at the time).

Conclusion

This entire experience was deeply disappointing, and A-1 Plumbing ultimately left my home in worse condition than it was before the ""repair."" They demonstrated unprofessional behavior and failed to take accountability for their poor workmanship. I absolutely cannot recommend this company to anyone. If you are looking for quality work and respectful service, look elsewhere. I hope my review helps others make an informed decision before hiring A-1 Plumbing.

Our home warranty sent out A1 Plumbing Service for a noisy hot water heater. They quickly diagnosed the problem and a new 80 gallon hot water heater was installed a few days later. It only took a few hours and the area was left clean. They consistently provide knowledgeable plumbers who take care of any plumbing issue quickly and efficiently.

UPDATE CALLED THE OWNER AND HE OF COURSE BACKED THESE LOSERS UP REAS MESSAGES so did my dog grow thumbs and learn how to open the back door himself? all of a sudden? my cameras literally prove only your grandson and son were the ones at my house not a single other person was at my home yesterday but them. but crazy you wanna go and try and say they weren't the ones who opened it and left it open. pathetic. yall have a special place in hell.

worst service ever. this man went into my home without permission. i wasnt even home. not only that, but i was at work and gone for 13 hours yesterday where he left my door open the whole time, let my dog inside my house who tore up my sons room pissed on my brand new rug, and thank god my cat was still in my freaking house. cause had my cat ran away id be finding this man myself. i feel violated to say the least. you called me that morning and i told you you did not need to go in the house it was my water hester that was outback by the gate. i wasnt home. so why did you ever even feel the need to check my door to see if it was unlocked? let alone leave it wide open for 13 hours. i live in oildale and i have homeless tweakers come up here all the time anyone at any point coulf of robbed me cause of you. worst service ever. i hope the absolute worst for you in life. letting all the bugs and flys into my home.

After being provided A1 Plumbing by my Home Warranty company choice, they arrived and determined that the leaking was due to a faucet which was recently purchased and installed just a few weeks prior. They stated they needed to get prior authorization from my warranty company choice upon receiving approval. I verified that the Faucet would be same or similar value which they responded would be which I have in a text after a few days and multiple attempts to set up an appointment which I would be unavailable for, but my daughter would be present. They installed the faucet upon my viewing of the faucet was deemed to be of, nowhere near same or similar quality I contacted them. They said the home warranty company would only authorize one of what they call builder after speaking to the warranty company. They said they had authorized a $70 replacement further noted that my old faucet was still under warranty and which I plan to offset the hundred dollar fee with my Home Warranty company Required me to provide A1 Plumbing their taken it. I immediately contacted A1 Plumbing . They stated they would get back to me within minutes. I received another text stating that they no longer had the faucet which had no time I gave them permission to remove from my home and I asked them to do the right thing either provide the faucet or, provide value the money of which the faucet was worth. I asked them to do the right thing as I deem this as theft. I contacted the Home Warranty choice and instructed them what happened and that I deemed this theft they were in agreement and said that they would escalate this immediately and I should hear back from them within 24 to 48 hours A1 Plumbing has ceased to communicate or respond to me so I have no other recourse since they're unwilling to do the right thing to see legal action and file a complaint of theft with the local police department and pursue this in small claims court stay away from this company, or you will end up with more than a leaking faucet

They came out on a Saturday and showed up very quickly. Fixed a ceiling water leak in minimal time with minimal damage. I didn't give 5 stars because a check payment was insisted on versus taking a credit card.

Rick and his team at A1 Services go above and beyond! He arrived at our 1930's home and completed a total re-pipe in 3 days. The team plumbed everything from the street, throughout the whole house, and all the way back to our studio and laundry room. Chose this plumber based upon review on Nextdoor app.
Called this company on Jan 26 at 8:30 am and set an appointment for the next day, Jan 27 at 8:30 for leaking valve.
On Jan 27, I took morning off from work to be home for plumber.
Plumber was a NO SHOW at scheduled appointment time nor did plumber give a telephone call or text regarding late/no show.
Sent plumber a text 1 hr after no show and received NO response from plumber regarding scheduled appointment.
Very unprofessional!
Don't waste your time with somebody who will only end up wasting your time.
