It was time to retire our 30 year old heat pump system and replace the ducting.
James came out and explained what we needed and gave us a fair estimate for the job.
The crew arrived on time and did a fantastic job removing the old stuff and installing a nice quiet Trane system.
They completed the job in the estimated time frame and we are very happy with the work they did. Looking forward to finally having heat in the winter and nice cool air in the summer!
Great job guys!
Thank you!!

On July 28, 2016, our AC went out. We have American Home Shield warranty and they sent us A1 Plumbing, Heating & Air on Aug.4. Their technician spent 15 minutes at AC on roof, put his ladder away, then told us we needed to replace capacitor and compressor--$2380 or, slightly less with a maintenance agreement! WHAT? Requested 2nd opinion from AHS (we really didn't think it was a compressor), but Heather at A1 said they really wanted to work with us, needed to send someone out to look at the heat exchanger to make sure right elements were replaced. On Monday, James came out, said heat exchanger was good, but that's all he was there to check. Again, I requested a 2nd opinion from AHS, they sent Abott on Aug. 11. When he showed up, he refused to go on the roof, saying it was too dangerous and called it in to AHS as such, which, now, they couldn't send anyone else out and willing to give us the cash to hire and fix on our own.
SO, I call Hoyt Mechanical, their technician came out this morning, Aug. 15--yes, it's been that long--and put a capacitor in and within minutes we have cold air. The compressor only needed the capacitor to work, coolant was fine.
So glad I relied on instincts. I will not recommend A1 and, if I have a problem with my AC/furnace again, I will request Hoyt Mechanical.

I do not have confidence A1 can complete a job satisfactory given the problems they have encountered completing a basic coil replacement. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
On June 15, 2016, I hired A1 to replace the coil in my existing 11 year old AC unit.
On June 20, 2016, 5 days later, A1 was called back after the AC unit began blowing warm air. The diagnosis performed by A1 was the Freon had leaked completely out of the system. Since the A1 repairman didn't have the proper equipment, the repairs could not be performed that day.
On June 21, 2016, the Freon leak was repaired and the system was recharged.
On July 3, 2016, another problem was discovered with the AC system. Water began leaking on the ceiling evident by water stains. I verified water was coming from the newly installed coil by going up into the attic. I also discovered cold air was blowing into the attic. The escaping cool air was coming from the coil box where the installer neglected to completely seal the box in an area hard to reach. I also found repair debris left in my attic including remnants of my old coil unit.
On July 6, 2016, A1 came back out to diagnose this problem and found the coil box which includes the primary condensation pan was not properly leveled to allow the condensation water to drain. It was also determined the coil box was not properly sealed. Another appointment was required to fix the poorly installed coil.
On July 11, 2016, the leaky coil box was leveled and the coil box was completely sealed. The debris that was left from the initial installation was finally removed from my attic. A1 Plumbing promised to fix the water stains on my ceiling caused by the leaky coil box.
On July 29, 2016, A1 was called back again to investigate more water leaking from the AC System. The A1 technician found the primary drain pipe was not properly leveled to allow water to flow outside. The pipe was leveled and secured. The water stain on my ceiling was also finally painted to hide the water stains.
Problems encountered:
1) not properly leveling the evaporator pan,
2) not properly sealing the coil box allowing cold air to blow into the attic,
3) not adequately testing the AC system after repairs were completed,
4) not cleaning up the work site when work was completed
5) not properly leveling the primary pan drain pipe

Don't bother with this business. They came out on Friday, May 27, and said they would notify my home warranty on Monday, May 30. Today is June 8 and I have not heard a word from them or from my home warranty. I called Heather at A1 and was told that they haven't done anything with my order because its hot outside and not a priority! Wow, who made them the decision makers of my repairs?? Without even calling to ask me?? Our house is for sale & had a sign out front when they came out to check it. Now we are scurrying to find a repair place and we will have to pay the entire bill because it's too late to go thru the process with the home warranty!! Horrible customer service and I will never recommend or use them again! By the way, when I got upset, Heather hung up on me! Great customer service??? Yeah, right!

*For Heather, HVAC apprentice
Great customer service! , she went above and beyond, explained things to me, cleaned up after herself, and I got a great price:)

Today Brian G. came by to do Maintenance Check on HVAC did an excellent job, very professional and efficient. I will for sure be calling again for next checkup. This is the place to go to.

I left work early to meet the A-1 tech guy for a diagnostic on our heating system. Two hours later, still a no show. After a call he says he'll be there at 10 in the morning to do the check-up. I stay home from work and.... no show.
The dispatcher, a very nice lady, said she would see that he'd call and that they would ""make it right"".
How, by showing up?
We're renters. No great price on the work is going to make up for wasting our time.

Bought an Amazon deal for AC Diagnostic as the cooling was uneven in diff rooms of our house. They called before Appointment and the owner James showed up in a timely manner. James asked us a few questions, he did a couple of visual checks & said the air is being trapped due to close door in one of the smaller rooms. When I asked him if he will be checking the AC unit outdoors - he said ""No"" not for the Amazon price but will do it for an additional fee. So we politely asked what is included in the price - he said that's it - basically what that means is I am done! Very patiently we asked if he was going to run any tests to determine unit performance and diagnose the issue. Once again he said ""No"". So I had to pull up the Amazon voucher to check the fine print on what was included in the diagnostic price and sure enough it said the following were included:
A/C checkup includes check amp draw of blower, condenser fan, and compressor; check condition of squirrel cage; check A/C capacitors and blower capacitors; check temp split; check disconnect; check wiring at condenser; check condition of outdoor condenser coil; check thermostat; check filter; check for correct installation; and visual inspection of easily accessible ductwork.
He had only done visual checks so far...and was ready to leave already! When I politely told him what was included in the voucher, he got upset and said he was the owner & refused to test even what was included in the price. He said he drove 45 mins to get here, but my home is listed in his travel area on the voucher - I didn't force him to come out - just expected basic services included in the deal and would have recommended him to several others had he done his job right. He said you can call Amazon and get a refund if you like but was not willing to do what was included in the deal. We did not get the refund but what a waste of our time to leave early from work to get this done by someone who did not honor his word and has such a BIG attitude problem! Why did A1 Heating & Air offer a deal that they cannot honor? Do not recommend using them!!

We purchased a groupon to have our air conditioner checked before the summer heat wave gets here. The appointment was quick. The service was outstanding Everything about our air conditioner check out okay so there were no extra charges. The man was friendly and professional. They are getting out business from now on.

We've been in our house for over 15 years, so we figured it was about time to get the a/c unit checked on before the heat of summer hit. And, as luck would have it, a deal from A1 Heating and Air popped up on Amazon Local. SOLD!
It was easy to set the appointment; one call and it was done. No machine to talk to, no ""we'll get back to you""...yay!
The day of the appointment, our awesome technician showed up on time. was uber friendly, and even though we had an Amazon Local deal, he made no lame attempt to upsell us. No ""looks like you got yourself a broken Johnson rod"" comments or $1000 fixes needed. Honestly, he came across as totally honest...YAY!!
These guys are great, and if anything DOES happen with our a/c unit, we will call A1 in a heartbeat. And hopefully it'll happen at the same time they have another of those Amazon Local deals going :)
