They did some work for me and when I was going to pay they claimed they had no change for me. I asked the guy to use the change towards a subsequent job I requested for and to come back. He never showed, called, or texted that they wouldn't make it. Very Unprofessional.

We had a heavy door that was very difficult to open to the point where clients would think we were closed! Thankfully A1 Handyman came to the rescue and fixed the issue in a very timely manner. Would definitely recommend!

I was very happy with my recent service from A1. I needed a new garbage disposal put in and an electrical switch installed for it. James responded to my online inquiry right away and was informative about the cost and what to expect and was able to get someone out there within 2 days to come get this completed. Based on what was needed to be done, this had to be a 2 day project- both days, the tech, Mark, was on time, very friendly and efficient. After the 2nd day, I did have an issue where my dishwasher wasn't working right after he left. I emailed James to let him know and Mark called me within 5 mins of me sending the email and setup a time for the next day to come back to check out what was going on. The issue had nothing to do with the work on it the day before and was due to the part being old and needing to be replaced. He replaced this for me and only charged for the part. I insisted to pay more for his time/labor, but he said that he quoted me a certain price the other day and was sticking to this. This to me was very unexpected, but awesome to hear as I have had VERY different scenarios with other plumbing companies that i have used in the past. I will definitely be reaching out again soon for some other projects around the house.

This is the Yelp review that will not die.

Okay, so here's the Reader's Digest version (or, for true gluttons for punishment, feel free to read the whole review history). About three years ago, we found A1 Handyman on Yelp and hired them to do a few repairs for us. Long story short, we had a bad experience and considering that I'd found them through Yelp, I left a poor review.

This led to the then-owner of the business contacting me several times to try and get me to take it down. After all his pressure, I finally Googled him and discovered some pretty disturbing things in his past. I felt reaffirmed in my one-star review and in my warning to others to do their homework before hiring this business.

Flash forward to today. I was contacted by the new owner of the business. Apparently the former owner is deceased and his partner, who also had a long and troubling past, is no longer with the business. He asked me to reread my review and consider if it was still fair.

I've done that. I've spent some time thinking about it, and here's what I have to say today. I don't feel I should remove my review; it is a truthful accounting of what happened and I haven't hired them again to have any new experiences to rate.

That said, I certainly don't want to hurt an innocent person's prospects. The new owner cares enough about his reputation to try and fix it, so that could be a good sign. While I can't speak to the quality of his work or give him my endorsement, I don't want to stand in his way. My recommendation, for him or ANY laborer you look to bring into your home, is to do your own research. Google is definitely your friend.

I had a bad experience with A1, but with a different owner...who knows? Maybe they'll be awesome. It's up to you to decide if you want to give them a chance.

These guys are great. I called on a Thursday and Mark came out on a Friday to replaced my leaky toilet. He charged a reasonable rate and was a very down to earth guy. Would definitely hire them again!

I called to schedule a service and we agreed on a date/time 2 days later. 30 minutes after the agreed time, get a call that the service rep is running late. Okayyyy. Another hour or so later, the rep calls and says last job ""beat him up"" so he suggested coming by to give a firm quote. I told him I was satisfied with the range quote I had but willing to reschedule. So today- less than 10"" prior to the time HE suggested, he called and was unable to bring my address up. I gave it again along with some directions. I know I live 15-20"" from the office where he claimed to be. An hour later, still not here so I left the house. I tried to call office to cancel- no answer. He called my brother at my house and said he ""couldn't locate my street"". Uh- google maps? Call again before over an hour late? We cancelled! I'm flexible but this is ridiculous!

FANTASTIC. I am an Interior Designer from Chicago and I work with handyman companies all the time, and A1 is the BEST I have ever worked with! Super prompt, polite, helpful, efficient. I can't say enough about these guys. When I booked a job in Boise I was worried that I wouldn't have a team I trust and I was so lucky to get the crew from A1! Jeff was super nice on the phone, and his team is about as sweet and professional as they come. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Jeff is easy to work with. Jeff always returns calls promptly. Scheduling is a breeze. Jeff assembled/installed three ceiling fans. Jeff also extended coax TV cable under the house from one wall to another. Jeff is my go-to guy to get things done, done right, and at a reasonable price! Thank you, Jeff!!

We had a new window installed in our home. Because the window was larger than the old window, we needed wires moved. I called A1 Handyman. They were super friendly and able to get out to my home within the day. I was impressed because they were willing to come out at 7 p.m. to take care of us. I did think it was a tad bit pricey for what needed to be done BUT, like I said, A1 was quick and worked 'after hours'. I would definitely recommend using A1 Handyman

How often do you call a handyman and ""surprise"" no one bothers to return your call? Well, this has not been the case with Jeff. He actually answers his phone and he is always courteous and ready to please.
We had Jeff install a new doggy door in the wall and replace several light fixtures. Everything looks great and my little fur babies love the new door. Great job A1 and we will be giving you our business in the future.
