Recommended Customer Reviews
They came to snake our drains as a preventative measure at the recommendation of a friend. 3 weeks later we had a huge plumbing problem. We called a local plumber who came and told us that they hadn't done the job properly and that we had a huge sewage backup. I called A1 and they couldn't have been ruder. We didn't even try to have them come back to fix the issue even though it was under warranty since we didn't trust them at all!
We had this outfit come to do a preventative main drain cleaning. The process went fine, even though the guy kept telling me how smart he was about all things plumbing-related. The price was reasonable. We called again when we had a minor emergency with a stopped-up kitchen drain. Same guy showed up. In addition to the constant stream of ""I know more than you do,"" he scratched the porcelain of the sink, scratched the polished brass drain basket, didn't clean up, told me he ""went 30 feet"" with the snake and could not clear the clog. He wanted an additional $140 to tear down part of the ceiling in the finished basement to give an estimate on fixing the problem, saying that all the original drain piping in our 60-year-old house would probably have to be replaced. When I called the ""office"" to report the damage to the sink, I was told the plumber would call back. He never did. With the holiday coming, we needed to have the problem fixed. A neighbor suggested we call Roto-Rooter, which we did. The technician showed up when promised, put down tarps, cleared the clog in short order, using less than 15 feet of snake, cleaned up, accepted credit card payment, gave a 6-month guarantee on the work, and included a large jug of enzyme treatment and told us how to use it. We will NEVER use A1 again.
same experience as all of the other one star ratings. nasty disrespectful people. the $68 price is a bait and switch gimmick to get their foot in the door. when they get in your house they will tell you its $68 each way they run the snake. they will tell you they have to run it in the house and then out to the sewer line, so you are starting out at $136 plus tax just to start. they came to my house 2 months ago and now i have the same problem all over again. called them to ask them to to come back and fix because the repair should last longer than 2 months. they got nasty and disrespectful and hung up on me when i challenged them on the quality of their work. if they were a reputable company they would've come back and fixed the backup as a courtesy.
Do not waste your time with this company
This is the most unprofessional company ever. The owner actually called to threaten me when I told his very unprofessional mechanic I would be giving them a bad review. He said he was going to come to my house and teach me a lesson. Apparently in his eyes if you say you will be giving a bad review it's extortion and threatening them. Get real. How about trying to make things better as the owner. Epic FAIL. DONT CALL EVER
Very disatified with this service. Had to contact another plumber after a few days to take care of the same problem. Company representative very rude. When I called again - he said it was the service- it is the company rep.or owner- same person! Very confrontational and not at all helpful. $68.00 wasted!
James B.Plain and simple, the job was paid for but the initial condition remained the same. Called A1 Sewer and drain to address a backed up washing machine. In the past, we have used Rotor Rooter and the Condition was corrected. A little higher priced but situation was resolved. Wish I could say ""you get what you paid for"" by using A1 but we got NOTHING. When I contacted A1 to tell them the washing machine was STILL backing up they informed me that I would pay full price for another visit. When I protested, they suggested I go back to Roto Rooter. When I mentioned that I would post an honest review of the service I received, I was told I was being threatening and using extortion. Bottom line, I am out 160.00, am back where I started and WILL be going back to Roto Rooter. So much for trying to help the little guy. A little discount would have gone a long way.
Vera T.Wow-wee well prepare to be taken advantage of. Yup #1 sucker here got their flier in the mail with a free magnet the other day. I had a clogged pipe and I called them out. Glad I was home I wouldn't want the guy who showed up (covered in tattoos dirty filthy dreadlocks and smoking no less) to be in my house with my wife and young children. Guy was surly nasty tried to jack the price up on me 3 times. I told him to pack up and go if he's not gonna do the job for $68. He did the job begrudgingly and left. Told me if I paid cash there's no tax. WTF??? NSA are you reading this?? Go with a more reputable company that will give you an honest price with friendly service as the saying goes you get what you pay for I definitely paid too much at this price. Going back to my regular guy at $200. That way I won't have to worry about work release people in my home.
Victoria T.What a Horrible Nightmare! I recommend you hire your neighbor's dog sh!t to get the job done instead of this sorry excuse for a sloppy incompetent disgusting moron, it would make for much better company at least. This bozo ""Keith"" robbed me of my time, patience and my kitchen sink, and had the nerve to charge me $600 for a simple job that he totally failed on. Not only did I have to take off work because he decided to keep telling me horrendously terrible jokes that didn't even make sense and even worse personal stores, even though I told him several times I was working from home. I should have let my dogs in after he said to me ""if there's a problem, it's not me it's the part"". He made the leak under my sink worse and he stole my kitchen faucet that had nothing wrong with it and replaced it with the most ghetto faucet that does not even work properly (which I don't even this he installed a new faucet although he pretended to). Aside from doing a worse then horrible job, he had the nerve to talk on his phone while working under the sink, went upstairs in my house without even asking, almost broke the things in my bathroom because he was curious and needed to touch them (gross), I literally had to babysit this shmuck the whole time he was in my house, and I had to bleach everything he touched!
After we found the new leak a few days later we called the company -A1 $68.00 Sewer & Drain, Plumbing & Heating, in which we continuously got hung up on. I then decide to go to the address I find for the business; 41 Drake Ln Levittown, NY 11756, which turns out to be this loser's home address, at which point I realize it's a sole proprietor. I had brought with me a typed up a letter thinking that I would be speaking with management to resolve this matter, so I left it on his door anyway with a side note saying I hope him and his family are proud at what he is doing for a living. I tried to do the right thing and support a small business, and it went so very wrong. Not to discourage anyone from going with a smaller company, but know what you're getting into, and my advice to anyone looking for a plumber is to never deal with this terror and that you read the reviews! Too bad I did not investigate this fraudulent company first. Lemmy S. you would have saved me if I read your comment in time, and p.s. he is way worse in person. And my advice to you Keith, is to get a $599 rope and a $1 stool and make this world a better place.

I'm not sure how this guy's work is, but I couldn't even get past the phone call. I think he was trying to give me some advice about other plumbers being a ripoff, but it made little sense. I kept asking for a rough idea of how much the parts would cost, since he charges $68/hr plus parts, but he wouldn't give me a straight answer. He eventually said ""good luck buddy"" and hung up on me. Never trying him again.
Kenny A.This guy will over charge you and leave the job unfinished .....my 1st encounter he tried to charge me 650 bucks for a 99 dollar Loews toilet..Just for the part...then 2nd encounter .......years later he was brought in by my landscaper....charged me 1900 bucks to repair my sprinkler system....after 2 weeks of working 1 to 2 hour days and just disappearing ...he left job with 1 head not working and 2 others sticking 3 inches out of ground when off.....hence 1st time lawnmower went by....no more sprinkler heads.... RUN......RUN.......DO NOT CALL THIS GUY !!!! No stars
