When I was younger and dating, folks would do this thing called ghosting. You've heard about it. You'd meet someone. Y'all would go out, grab a meal, hang out and make plans to meet up again. And then they'd disappear. You were ghosted. I thought once you got married and started a family, you'd be immune from ghosting. Nah. Just work with this company, and you'll find yourself back in your college dorm room. A Valdez and Sons Plumbing was assigned to me by our now-former home warranty company, Old Republic. Our family had just purchased a home and after we closed (of course), there was some sort of leak in the drainage that connected to a sump pump in the basement. It'd caused such a horrible smell that my wife wasn't excited to move in. Tony (and his son) came by one Sunday to check it out. He took a couple of mins looking at it--not testing anything, literally just looking--and explained that the pump sump needed to be replaced. I'd be told it was a drain leak by another person but cool, this isn't my field of expertise, so I go with it. Tony shares that he's going to write everything up, submit it to Old Republic, and we should be good to go. I began following up with Tony via text or phone a couple of days later. He told me that because of office closures and holiday delays, he hadn't been able to reach the warranty company but would do so (always) tomorrow and follow up with me. Tomorrow would come. Tomorrow would go. And nothing. No more responses to text messages. No more answered phone calls. Nothing. This review is being written four weeks later and guess who hasn't heard back from Tony? If you guessed me, you are smarter than a first grader. I finally ended up calling Old Republic, only to find that the sump pump wasn't included as a part of my coverage anyway. In my frustration about not hearing from anyone, I canceled the coverage. Zoom Drain came out and tested the sump pump (it actually works), and a handyman closed up an open spot so I could use that random sink in my basement. I haven't had any issues with it since. But I have to admit--being ghosted still hurts. (Okay, okay I'm being dramatic but the point is this company will take your service fee coins and disappear.)
