Joe installed a Hot water heater in short notice. I called him the day before and he was here to install a new water heater after a basement flood. I have used Joe before to fix faucets and install a new kitchen faucet. He is very knowledgeable, courteous and comical. He is my plumber of choice.

Woke up without heat in 20 degree weather...so called Joe since he has helped us with plumbing issues before and we knew he also took care of heating. He came over same day, fixed the problem and did not over charge! In fact, the reason we chose him for the plumbing previously was because he gave us the best price. Definitely call them for either issue.

Joe from Sewer Genie showed up on a last minute call for a sewer pump problem
and stayed until it was fixed.

Turned out to be not only prompt, but knowledgable and honest.

Saved me at least $1000 by triple checking the pump and honestly showing me that it was clogged and not burned out.

We recently had a problem with our heating unit and called A-Genie in to diagnose it. They discovered that the ignitor had failed and needed to be replaced. The unit itself if a Rheem Classic 90 for those who care. They didn't have any info on price/availability, so they left to check with their suppliers. An hour later after not hearing from them I called to find out that they had found a replacement part in Plainfield NJ, about half an hour away. They told me the price of the part was $385 if I wanted it.

I rent and don't own, so I told them that I'd have to check with my landlord to see if this price was acceptable, which would take some time and possibly not happen until the following day. They got very pushy about me buying this part from them and told me that if I didn't agree to purchase it before end of day (it was ~3PM at this point), they would charge me, in addition to the service fee, for the time they spent trying to find an available part (why they didn't just phone to find the part I'll never know). Not having heard anything back from my landlord, I agreed to let them install the part and I figured I'd work out any details with my landlord afterward.

After the job was done, they charged me $385 for the part and $75 for the service, then told me they ONLY accept cash, which I regretfully paid.

A short time later I get a call from my landlord telling me that she priced the part and found out it only cost $60! Sixty fucking dollars. A far cry from $385. I called the repair guy back to have it out with him and, after some heated discussion, the response I got was:

""That's the way it goes. You agreed to pay the $385"".

And then ""Best I'll do is give you back the $75 for the service fee"".

I feel a little violated and the bastards didn't even have the courtesy to give me a reach around - or is that what the $75 was meant for?
