Giuseppe B.Great company and people! These folks are top notch in my book, did great work at a reasonable price. Quick to answer the phone and always were on time or early.
Will definitely use again!
As new homeowners in the Hurley area, we thank our lucky stars that we've met Allen and Sarah. A&R is a local family business and it's obvious that they pride themselves on developing lasting relationships with their clients by offering outstanding, trustworthy customer service.
In speaking with Sarah on the phone for the first time, she got us on the schedule quickly and was incredibly courteous. Arrival times for the work were right when they were stated they would be.
We've had them perform two installations - a kitchen faucet and dishwasher - but beyond that, on our first appointment with Allen he took the time to walk through each bathroom, the basement, and the exterior, all the while responding to any questions and/or concerns we had when it came to both specific little nuances and more broad, general aspects of the house. He was beyond generous with his time and immediately won us over with his kindness and professionalism.
The fact that A&R handles both plumbing and HVAC is a gift to any prospective customer who's looking to develop a consistent relationship with a contractor. Although the initial work they did for us seemed pretty rudimentary, we would not hesitate to call on them for something far more significant. We have no doubt they would guide us through any given project with honesty and excellent communication.
Any home owner knows how dicey finding ""your people"" can be, especially when it comes to navigating the hills and valleys of Google, Angi, Yelp, etc. For our part, we can only say that A&R Mechanical Contracting is now on speed dial and we feel grateful for it.
Tracy F.I have been using A&R Mechanical for a couple years and will never use anyone else. They are prompt and professional!! The pricing is very fair also. I woke up to water in my basement and my boiler leaking this morning. I noticed this at 7 am by 10am I was sitting in a warm house again!!
Look no further further. Prompt, professional, fairly priced. Have had two jobs done with Allen and Sara: a major HVAC unit installation and a subsequent plumbing mess in the basement. Excellent availability and results both times.
Sharon S.Highly recommend working with Sarah and Allen at A&R. We have a weekend house in Kingston and needed someone who could do work when we were not around. Allen and his crew show up when he says he will and gets the job done. Prices seem in line with other quotes that I got but I decided to work with them based on positive Yelp reviews and then continue to work with them because Sarah is so responsive to emails and the work has been good.
Ellen F.Timely, thorough, fair pricing, good communicators. They checked our furnace & turned another one in my office on. No complaints, & we will definitely call again as needed! These guys know their stuff... even tho my husband was at work I didn't feel unsafe or in any way at a deficit for his not being present, & they were happy to take his questions over the phone.
This is the company you are looking for . . . .
I just bought a great place in Rhinebeck and am doing a good deal of upgrading. Allen was prompt in arranging to visit with me, understood what I needed and wanted and did a phenomenal job of installation.
He installed a Navien Condenser Hot Water System (I like to be able to use 0 propane when I am out of town . . . it always seemed weird to heat a big 40 gallon tank of water 24/7 when you use it only a couple times a day). Other contractors at the house commented on how neat and professional the installation was.
Allen, and his crew, appeared about a week later and installed a complete new furnace and central air conditioning system. It's not only, once again, a museum quality installation, but it works awesome and I like being able to control fans and set various heat schemes when I am not home. It's set so that it controls the temperature based on the bedrooms from 8pm until 6am and on the downstairs area the rest of the time.
I'm looking forward to the peace of mind of having A&R Mechanical around whenever I need any mechanical work.
Andrea C.We had a fantastic experience with A&R Mechanical this week. During this polar blast, we had a problem of TOO MUCH heat as a valve broke and our boiler would not shut off. We might as well have been sipping mai tai's in our bathing suits in our 90 degree house. Alan responded to our call within an hour and showed us how to effectively manage our heat for a couple days while the part that we needed came in. Alan was back at our house promptly at 9am on a Saturday morning and the problem was fixed within 15 minutes! Prices are also very reasonable and fair. Added bonus is that Alan is just an overall great guy and a pleasure to work with and have a neighborly conversation with! I highly recommend using A&R and we will absolutely call them again should the need arise.
Paula B.I live in Yonkers, My grandmother lives on a property in Kingston, in a multiple family home & 2 little bungalos. She's newly in charge of all of it after my grandfather's passing, and I'm two hours away. This summer she hit the all-time lottery of plumbing disasters, just one problem after another.
Allan (or Alen?) came highly recommended from a woman I know at the building department - probably the best recommendation one can get, and I'm so glad he was.
He and his apprentice showed up exactly on time, with a truck and trailer FULL of everything he needed. He dealt with more of the family (showing up to butt-in w/big noses and attitudes since everyone wants to look out for grandma even though they're only in the way, to say nothing of the demands of the tenant and her boyfriend.) He handled them all with professionalism and aplomb- I wanted to strangle half of them and walk off the job- and she's my grandma! Alan was cool as a cucumber and never stopped working.
His pricing was excellent (especially with two guys on site, a house this ancient, and an emergency call). His office is easy to get a hold of and very responsive. You know right away when he is available, he shows up right when he says he will, and in an emergency when he say's I'll try to get there today, he and his staff keep you in the loop so you're not trapped at home waiting for nothing. That alone would be enough for me to always hire Alan, but there's one extra special thing about him that anyone with any experience knows is the worst part about even the best plumber- and its demolition. He's neat and the least invasive plumber I've ever met, he doesn't think what's the easiest way for him to access the pipes, but what the least amount of damage I must do, and then, when we had to cut through a section of vent to get to the gas lines behind it, he happened to have some sheet metal in the truck, SO HE FIXED IT- its unheard of! The sheetrock he had to remove was cut in small straight strips easy to repair and rather than tromping feet all over debris, he picked up and took it with him.
He really treated me the way any client would want to be treated, with not only expertise, reasonable pricing, and patience, but consideration for my time and the integrity of my property. Unfortunately, right around July 4th he was on vacation when another 5pm Friday night plumbing debacle happened, so I had to call other plumbers. You'll see from my reviews I got lucky with some, not so lucky with others, but if I had my way Allan would have done all the work every time.
