A J Perri!!! Wow, where do I start? How are these people in business for 40 years? I guess, ripping people off has served them well! Just like other reviews suggest, they are out to get your wallet by practicing scare tactics. You have to change this part ASAP, its about your safety, you don't wanna pay more once it breaks down...bla bla bla. Thank god i got second opinion and got the problem fixed for $75 instead of $1800 that was suggested by their employee.

SHAME, SHAME!!

My wife called A.J. Perri Inc. for HVAC assistance just last Friday when she came home to find our heater wasn't working. We've had service and maintenance provided by another company but she decided to give A.J Perri a try. I had just walked in when the service truck pulled up. The technician was then led to the furnace room. Within minutes, he pointed out to my wife that all it needed was a flame sensor. Very quick assessment. He did not even really check out the allegedly defective item. Went to his truck and returned in a heartbeat, from another room, I heard him declare the part cost $269.00 plus $89 for the service trip. A bit surprised, I wanted to see what this sensor looked like. I watched him replace the sensor, to see how it worked. I did not get a chance to ask for the replaced item but later researched the item because it just COST WAY TOO MUCH. Found it cost about $20. That is almost $250 profit on a part that took him a few minutes to replace. HONEST technicians, I understand would check the part and see if it really needs replacement. If it wan't in the forecast to be a cold night, we would have shopped around.

The star earned was only to appreciate that the furnace was back to work, but $250 profit on a $20 part plus $89 service fee...Really...!!!

If no stars were an option, that would be my rating......my furnace wasn't working properly...Perri's tech pointed to a slight dent and some rust and told me I needed a new furnace....not so...PSE&G came and cleaned one thing in two minutes and everything was fine.....very questionable plumbing firm...STAY AWAY!

Used them recently to investigate a sewer drain blockage. Staff is knowledgeable and the technicians seem to know what they are doing. But be prepared for a sophisticated if not a pressured sales pitch similar to what you might experience with a timeshare. Their quote to fix the problem was $4400 after applying a coupon and with a 10% discount if we decided on the spot. I knew the quote was high so I checked around and got the sewer line dug up and fixed for $500.

Sewer problems are often an emergency service and they will take advantage of your not having any quick options. Fortunately, I had another functioning sewer line so was able to check alternatives.

BETTER FIND ANOTHER PLUMBER!!

You would think that a contracting company of this size would also have the ability to service a customer as well... Think again.

Recently our family home was vandalized when individuals went into the crawl space and stole all of the copper pipes hooked up causing an unknown amount of damage. Our first step, call AJ Perri who we thought was a reputable plumber that could handle a job like this. AJ Perri sent a technician out and he takes a look at everything and says it would be about 6-7 thousand dollars to complete the fix. Because of the theft this is a claim we have put through homeowners insurance and after speaking to the adjuster he asked if we could provide an estimate for the work to be preformed here is where the fun begins.
After waiting 2 and a half weeks of waiting and contacting AJ Perri numerous times speaking to not so pleasant office individuals, we have come to find out that they could not produce a detailed estimate to support the claim of 6-7k in damage. To me does not seem like an unreasonable request for a project of this size. So now the house has been without heat for over 3 weeks, last time I checked its been fairly cold outside I hope no other damage has occurred, we must now go find another plumbing company that is simply willing to put an estimate together that can be sent to the insurance company to complete a job that we though a ""well known"" ""reputable"" company like AJ Perri could handle.

It's great to see that a company this size can turn away work because they can't give a more detailed estimate than $6,000-$7,000!

I called to have repair work done on my furnace. They charged me 850 dollars to put in a 120 dollar part took the tech 20 minutes. I am so frustrated I feel they took total advantage due to the fact that it was 9 degrees out. I have since heard numerous horror stories from coworkers and friends about the horrible experiences they also had with this company. Wish I had asked around but I figured they are big and must be trustworthy. NOT

We had a new steam boiler installed by some guy that came recommended to us. Turns out we were taken to the cleaners by this guy. The house had huge pockets of freezing air, the boiler's water level was way below the recommended level, and when we moved the heat up to about 80 to get the whole house heated, the knocking in the pipes became so loud and violent that water was spewing out of the radiator valves. A lose-lose situation. Out of pure desperation and fear of harming our new boiler, we decided not to let this contractor into our house again, so we called AJ Perri. They sent out a very competent Josh Doyle and we cannot praise him enough for the thorough investigation into the botched installation. He explained in laymen's terms why our delicate and old (but wonderful) steam system was not operating optimally. He was very patient and thorough in explaining what had to be done to correct the problem and assured us when he left that our system was a good one that will serve us well. He told us that he would have to return to replace an incorrect auto feed part installed by the first installer, but that he had skimmed the system to be fine until he returns. A matter of hours later we received a call to schedule his return visit to install the appropriate part. Its a real good feeling when you have a sense that the con-man is out the door for good and your heat is in good, capable and trained hands. This old house is not knocking in the pipes any more, and we thank Josh Doyle of AJ Perri for that.

This company is absolutely absurd. The majority of the reviews are correct, they are quite shady. The technician that came out to look out our heaters was incredibly unprofessional. He basically berated us about how poorly the heaters were installed for 30 minutes. We were simply hoping to receive a diagnosis and a cost effective solution, instead we were made to feel like complete idiots. We did not receive a proper written estimate, we were given a ridiculous number (about $2,400) over the telephone - the day after the technician's visit. Needless to say we won't be using their services for this repair or any future repair projects. Total scam artists!

So first of all they want to charge 50.00 to provide me with an estimate to service my water heater over the phone before dispatching a tech. Obviously I refused to pay the dispatch fee and they said ok. Tech arrives I explain to him that the pilot light shut off twice in the past week. Without even taking a tool out or removing the panel to see what was wrong he said it needs to be replaced. I'm like this dude is a snake. Regardless I let him quote me a new water heater. He quotes me $2800.00 for a 50 gallon Gas 10 year Tank Warranty heater. I was like these people are as shady as the car business. Do your homework folks! A Good 10 year warrantied heater from Ream or AO Smith from a local HVAC company will charge you between 1100.00 to 1500.00 to install a water heater. Also Home Depot will install a 9 year warrantied 50 gallon heater for 1350.00. Carpe Diem and stay away from AJ perry. Those fancy green trucks ain't cheap and the people not doing there homework are paying for them.
