Working on a class action lawsuit against this company. Contact me if you have had problems as soon as possible....

I had the great misfortune of AJ Bono Plumbing being assigned to me by my home warranty, Fidelity. If I'd known the type of business, sneaky tactics and worksmanship they operate I would have requested for a change immediately. I'm hoping to save others from headaches, delays, daily calls, runaround and dishonesty.
I'm a property manager and one of my rental had a backed up sewer which we initially thought a snake would unclog it, but then it turned into adding a cleanout and eventually the entire sewer line needed replacement. To cut a very long story short, I've highlighted the issues which I faced using AJ Bono from October to December 2020, yes it took over 2 months for them to finish. It would have taken longer if I didn't constantly push them.
1. Don't believe the appt window time, they came 3 hours early on the first visit, 2 hours late on the second visit (3 to 5pm window, they came at 7pm), no apologies for the delay and no courtesy notification was given even though they said they will call 30 min prior to arrival. Another time, it took 1 week to get an appt and it was cancelled because their truck broke down, so they said...and the next availability was 1+ week later. A next day priority should have been given to this project.
2. Initial tech did not submit his report to the warranty company within the required 48 hours, it took about 8 days. Home warranty company would not authorize additional work without this report. I repeatedly called their office daily for this report to get submitted but got the runaround, I was told it got turned in, but in fact it didn't. Aargh!
3. It was determined a cleanout will need to be added to snake the sewer line, estimate of $1400 was given and a worst case estimate of $7800 to replace the entire sewer line which included adding the cleanout. After the tech breaks the concrete in the driveway, digs a 4 ft deep hole to access the sewer line and run a camera, it was determined the sewer line had collapsed and a new sewer line is needed. I thought OK, lets get it fixed. BUT, the quote to replace the sewer line jumped from $7800 to $8900, crooks! I got some BS explanation that some special connectors are needed to be replaced. Since this was an emergency and I had tenants waiting for this to be repaired, I had no other options but to bite the bullet and let the job continue for the increased cost due my obligations to provide a functioning living environment for my tenants. The tech knew this was a crisis and definitely took advantage!
4. I checked daily on the plumbers work. They had to dig another hole in the front grass area to access a different part of the sewer line, 2 techs spent 5+ hours digging a 5ft deep hole. Guess what, they dug in the wrong location! Incompetent knuckle heads.
5. Paperwork runaround...I requested a copy of a signed paperwork and a payment receipt from the tech, he told me he doesn't handle it and to call his office. I called their office and was told they don't handle it and I should get it from the tech.
6. Techs didn't know to use pressure treated lumber when repairing the landscaping. Again, incompetent!
7. I asked for a copy of the final inspection report. Tech told me to contact the inspector directly to get the report. This is the tech's responsibility to gather all the final paperwork and provide it to the client!
Anyways, there are a lot more details which I didn't go into and I'm hoping this review will help others when choosing a reliable and honest plumber which AJ Bono failed miserably at my expense. Finally, some positive news. I contacted Fidelity home warranty to lodge a complaint and I was told many customers were complaining as well. Fidelity removed AJ Bono from their vendor list.

Totall scams, that's all I can say. They are working with American Home Warranty which is another scam. We were waiting for them all day, showed up at the end of the day and just told us you need water softener without even finding out as what the problem is because they know AHW won't cover that. What a waste of time

I brought them out to my house to do an assessment of 2 leaks that I have. 1 in my sewer line and 1 below a bathroom. He didn't even do any real inspection pretty much going off the last plumbers information that I showed him. Then he proceeded to tell me that I needed all new pipes all of a sudden when he realized that he could bill my home warranty company for that. So the first 2 plumbers said it would cost about 1k... AJ bono said 4k.
Since they were the company my home warranty company chose I had to deal with them from there. It took me 3 weeks and several phone calls just to get them to send a quote to my warranty company. They kept tell me they'd have it done my tomorrow then I'd call the next day and they had no idea about what I was talking about.
100% don't go through this company. From the calls I place to them their incompetent all the way though the company.
I cannot speak to their work as a plumber because I didn't hire them due to wasting 4 hours minimum of my time and 3 weeks of continued leaks in my home.

AJ Bono Plumbing was assigned by my Home Warranty company to assist in repairing my toilet. David was punctual, professional and saw an additional need and met it.
I'm pleased with their service. I will admit I was a bit concerned after reading the previous reviews. My experience was the total opposite. Seems like things are looking up for this company.

AJ Bono sent Pablo to fix pipe leak and toilet leak on my home. Pablo did a great job with the work and he completed the work with good results. He is reliable and easy to work with. Thanks Pablo for your hardwork.
The company's communications with appointment is awesome. Everyone took care of my plumbing needs quickly. This was a service request from home warranty.

Better to avoid them.. very rude guys. They don't know what they are doing and you have to chase them, you might end up by unfinished work.

Highly unprofessional! We had issues from the very beginning when the technician failed to call to give an update of when he'd arrive during the 3 hour arrival window. He ended up showing up after the arrival window. He didn't unclog the toilet or do anything to resolve the stoppage at all. It took WEEKS for them to follow up with our warranty company and when they finally did they LIED about what caused the stoppage. The tech told us we'd need all our toilets replaced because of low flow flushing just from a glance and said they would charge us at a discounted rate even if we don't use our warranty if I agreed to it; I immediately said we'd clearly need to get additional opinions if that were the case because I'm not throwing money at down the drain if the problem isn't that drastic. WEEKS later he wrote in his report that we flushed paper towels down the toilet. What homeowner would EVER DO THAT?! And when he asked we were emphatic that we never flush anything except toilet paper. Obviously knowing that would void our warranty, he wrote that in his report considering we were clear we weren't going to hire them to do the work of replacing all our toilets without a second opinion. Now we have to start the process OVER, weeks later, with our warranty company to resolve the issue. This company is a total SCAM! All they want is a payout and have no desire to actually do good work. Never work with them. STAY AWAY! You've been warned.

BEWARE this company is dishonest and disrespectful. I called my home warranty because my hot water heater went out. The tech that came out told me is was 10 yrs old and needed to be replaced. My home warranty denied the claim because the tech said the problem was the wires were cut...? Julian the supervisor at AJ Bono said he didn't tell the home warranty anything, but they came to their own decision based on the pictures sent. This is a lie because the home warranty never received any photos. Julian was very rude, interrupted me several times, and raised his voice,in the conversation I said I was disabled and his response was ""you won't get sympathy here"". The home warranty sent out another company who is replacing the water heater. I have never been so disrespected like this.
Think twice about supporting this company!!

Through American First Home Warranty I've had a few experiences with this company.
The first time I worked with them I wish I could remember the name of the technician because he showed up on time, was excellent to work with, went above and beyond and completed the job.
Since then it's been terrible. They have provided two hour service windows and show up at least an hour and half after the window, they've even had to reschedule because they said they wouldn't be able to make it out that day. I only find this out when I call them because they never called me. They installed a hot water heater but only did the job halfway. When I had to call them back to complete the job they showed up 2 hours after the service window.
I had them come out for a leaking sink, they showed up over an hour late, spent about 2 minutes looking at the sink and said they didn't have the tools and would have to return. 5 days later I get a call saying they are 10 minutes away. I advised the technician I didn't have an appointment, nobody had called to make an appointment and was not available. He said he would call me back...2 weeks later I had the warranty company send a different plumbing company to complete the job (Live Action Plumping - Noe is amazing).
If your warranty company sends AJ Bono I suggest you demand a different company.
