Jason M.I couldn't even get past making an appointment. I called about a new boiler installation and the woman on the phone kept talking about doing same day repairs. I said it's not a repair, she said I know, I just want you do know we may not be able to do same day repairs?!? Then we got to making the appointment. That was impossible. ""We can be there between 9-11"" ""I have to leave by 1030, can we make it the first appointment of the day?"" ""Yes, they will be there between 9-11"" ""I can't be there at 11, can you come first thing?"" This went on and on. I can't imagine what it would be like using this company to actually do a job if this is how it started. There goes a $20k job.
Outstanding! Jose and his partner (please forgive my not remembering the name), came on time the next day. My Mother's one bathroom row home was leaking through to the kitchen ceiling below. They were professional, very courteous, knowledgeable and took the time to explain all the repair options in an easy to understand manner. We trusted them with the keys to the house and I brought my Mother to my home. We were kept abreast of the progress and everything was completed in two days. They had to replace the toilet, sink, and vanity and all the pipes going to and from them. The drainage pipes between the tiled bathroom floor and the ceiling in the kitchen below were very old cast iron and were a mess! They did an excellent job and the cleanup they did was impressive!! We are very, very satisfied and wouldn't use anyone else.
They will charge you a fee for just coming to your house and Charge a different fee for a the diagnostic. Just call Roto-rooter.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They will charge you more than four times the amount of most other plumbers in NYC. Thomas was here for one hour and replaced a $12 part that I supplied to him and charged over $1,100 for the labor. Buyer beware!
I will say they were professional and came on time.. but I called them to snake my bathroom sink and was given an estimate of $850. That is ridiculous!! I asked why so much and was given the whole well we may have to take out the sink and remove the pipe ummm aren't you a plumber isn't that what plumbers do. Anyway refused the service and paid the $107 service fee.. called another licensed plumber in the neighborhood who was here in less than half hour and did the job for $260. I have a neighbor who has used them before and in my opinion she paid way too much for what they did.
Ali S.I have worked with A Good Plumber 3 times over the past couple of years. This July I needed to fix the heat in my bathroom as a preventative measure before the winter. The plumber insisted that adding a check valve and a ball valve was going to fix my heat. Come winter, I still don't have heat in two rooms. I call them back in, they drain the system and bleed the pipes, but they still charge me a service call fee claiming this is ""new work"" and not what they ""fixed"" in July. Nothing was fixed. $200 in the winter helped heat my home, while in July I spent $2,100 without actually fixing the issue. Questionable practices.
David G.Spent over a 2 thousand dollars to fix an issue with my radiators during the summer. During their visit, my girlfriend was up sold thousands of dollars worth of repairs which ultimately DID NOTHING (and really, seemed a bit unnecessary as neighbors commented they had no previous need for such repairs) to resolve the issue which presented itself again not even a half a year later. We called in the company yet again, and paid over 200 dollars to fix THE SAME ISSUE that should of been resolved earlier with their previous estimate and repairs. When presenting this information to both the customer service rep. and the plumber, they seemed to be a bit laissez-faire regarding this concern.
Buyer beware of this plumbing company, they will up-sell you on useless fixes which ultimately resolve nothing and you may have to spend more money in the very near future to resolve the same issues.
If you are a single female, be particularly wary of their predatory selling practices.
An Awful Plumber would have been a more appropriate name! During installation of a new water heater, their workers installed 2 safety valves ($399 each) without getting my prior verbal approval. When I contested it with their boss, he told me that I gave them an approval("" I'm not calling you a liar but..."")
Then they charged my credit card, without my authorization for the full amount, including the two valves that I was contesting. Obviously, I made a mistake by giving them a credit card number for the initial deposit .
To add insult to injury, after they left I realized that the pipe that they supposedly installed for free was leaking!
The old valves were left in place, and they're still working fine - my spouse and I fixed a bathroom faucet on our own by closing old valves after their work was done.
We found them to be completely dishonest, stay away from this company.
An awesome team came out today from A Good Plumber! I had worked with another provider last week and they could not solve the problem. Today these guys spent pretty much the entire afternoon working with me to narrow down a clog in my very large house that has very old and complex plumbing. While they were not inexpensive, I was potentially looking at some serious excavating to find the problem. After many hours and perseverance, problem solved.
Don't even call them. Crooks. They charged a fee of $89 to give an estimate and try to rip me of for $400 for the part that cost $40.
