In July 1988, Todd & Susan Rhule, together with Todd's mother, Marcia Rhule, founded A-Comfort Service in Pittsburgh, PA. A-Comfort Service started in Pittsburgh's North Hills and nearby regions, growing from one employee to a workforce of 20. The company incorporated in 1997, adding a plumbing division to complement our heating and cooling offerings. In the Fall of 2003, Frank Moran became our Vice President. After our past experience with A-Comfort Service and an installation of a new Rheem heat-pump system in early 2017, when the need had come for a split-mini system for our basement, I reached out to them for a quote. In early 2019, I met with our sales representative Mr. Borris the same sales person whom sold us our heat-pump.

While he was waiting for some technical specifications back from their engineer, he began to discuss the Black Lives Matter protests that took place in downtown Pittsburgh in late March 2019 over the acquittal of the police officer whom shot Antwon Rose II .

Mr. Borris began to explain to me how he and his wife were attending an event right before the protests started. Recanting, ""We had just pulled out of a local parking garage where we ran into into a police blockade. I recognized one of the officers because I had sold him a new system a few years ago. I asked him what was going on, when he told me that we needed to leave the area immediately, because the protests were starting to turn violent.""

Mr. Borris went on to tell me that how he felt... ""These people... have no right to protest."" Going on to say, ""I am so happy that my wife and I carry concealed weapons. I told her, get it out... because you never know what were going to run into before we get safely on 279."" ""You know, I am so happy we live in the suburbs where they cannot afford to live.""

Then, Mr Borris went on to mention how he and the owner of A-Comfort Systems go back a long way. And how the owner feels the same way that he dose about these matters, stating, ""otherwise I wouldn't be able to work for him.""

Holy Shit... It was at that moment I felt, no matter what the price of this split-mini system was, it wasn't worth my integrity. I then became upset that I purchased a heat-pump system from them in 2017. Had I known the background of this company the way I do now, I would have never purchased any services or support from them.

How do I have such a clear recollection of what happened in 2019? I keep a journal where I write my thoughts, feelings and events. This stood out...

Despite being ASSURED when I made the appointment that COVID-19 protections would be used (mask, gloves, booties), the tech came to my house with nothing and had nothing in his truck. I can not be without A/C due to a medical condition of my young son and could not wait for another appointment, so I let the tech into my house. I kept 6 feet away from him at all times, even when he tried to call me over to look at his handheld computer. I am beyond diligent about keeping my house, my work, and my hands sanitized. At my age, COVID is deadly. I had always been a loyal customer of A-Comfort Service and have never let any other company service my furnace or A/C. What I got in response from the manager was ""sorry"".

I would not recommend this company for plumbing services. Originally there There was a slow drain. No communication whatsoever the employee told me that I needed to replace a pipe that would cost $300 didn't explain or breakdown the charges. It looked like a $30.00 pipe so I said shouldn't I just purchase a new sink for that cost? He agreed and said yes. told me in the meantime everything still worked but i would still have a slow drain. He didn't put sink back on properly so water leaked. Had to come back to put sink back on properly so didn't tell me snaked it and then handed me a $300 bill I said didn't we just go over this I just ordered a new sink. He said but you called and said you wanted me to come back and fix the sink. Manager then called to explain the charges. So then ceiling started to leek because while snaking they broke the pipe which they explained later could happen with an old home. I think i should have been warned of that. Called other plumbers and other plumbers said yes they usually warn people if they think house is older and this could happen but A-comfort said thats just not how they operate. I said oh thats right because there is no communication. So I Called another plumber! I can't even write the rest of what happens because there is just not enough room....But I would compare this company to Gillece..

I bought a brand new AC and furnace a while back from a comfort service. At the time when the company installed the furnace, the sales guy M told me he will offer me a free filter and one free tune up after the installation. But when I called them recently for the free tune up, the owner and sales guy told me that they did not said that before. They are very unhonorable business - please avoid with all cost. There is also a funny story about the sales guy. One morning he visited my house. (I forgot why?) He just opened my front door without knocking. I forgot to lock the front door the night before and my alarm system made a really loud noise and woke us up. Who on the earth do that? I had to buy a new smart lock because of the incident so that I can get notification every time the door is unlock for too long. When I tried to talk to them to figure out solution. The owner encouraged me to leave a negative feedback on internet. I normally don't leave reviews, especially bad reviews, but if this is suggested by the owner, I should honor his ask even though he doesn't honor his promise to me.

Had an emergency plumbing issue and called A Comfort Service and they were there within an hour's time. They identified the issue and laid out their payment in clear and concise terms to fix my issue (broken kitchen sink faucet). Being that I didn't have a spare kitchen sink faucet I had to run out to the store to buy one, when I called the office to schedule the replacement they were able to fit me in the next day.

Everyone I dealt with at A Comfort Service - from the office to the two plumbers that showed up at my house was professional and a pleasure to deal with. I know who to call in the future for any heating/cooling/plumbing needs - A Comfort Service

I scheduled A-Comfort to come and do the usual fall lubrication and cleaning. When the technician arrived, he saw I had purchased my furnace filter from someplace else (and not through A-Comfort), so he immediately had a negative attitude saying, ""I suppose you want me to put this in your furnace?"" Next, the technician told us we needed a new heat exchanger and ignitor. He told us it was under warranty and that they could fix it, and all we would have to pay is $1,207 for ""paperwork."" When we told him we would have to think about it and we weren't prepared to make a decision that day, he decided to write a statement on the very large sticker on our furnace indicating what it needed! When the technician left, my husband opened the panel to the furnace and it was STILL COMPLETELY COVERED WITH DUST! The furnace was never cleaned, and we paid $105 for the fall lube and CLEANING. We decided to get 2 other opinions from qualified furnace companies. THEY BOTH DISAGREED with the findings and recommendations stated by the A-Comfort technician. Additionally, both companies called the manufacturer of our furnace and learned that the parts were NOT under warranty! The new quotes for work needed cost around $200!! So our furnace is repaired, runs great, and we saved ourselves $1,000. Our recommendation is that you save yourself some money and do NOT use A-Comfort Service!
