Founded in 2000 by Alan Rimmer, the company began operating from his home and garage. The customer base gradually grew as we expanded our HVAC installations and plumbing services each year. Since its inception, A C Rimmer has been installing geothermal systems and has developed significant expertise in these technologies. To accommodate our growth, we eventually moved to our current location.

To effectively meet the growing demand for our products and services, we gradually added skilled technicians, support staff, and managers. We now employ between 35 and 40 skilled professionals. In addition to HVAC and plumbing services for residential and light commercial clients, we now also provide water treatment and solar thermal products.

AC Rimmer's mission is to fulfill the mechanical needs of the community, aiming to exceed customer expectations while fostering a positive work environment and supporting local communities. Derek serves as the Vice President of A.C. Rimmer.

We contacted AC Rimmer on recommendation from a neighbor, who had a similar problem with heating/air from a unit installed by another company.

ACR responded promptly to my call and had a technician out within a day of my phone call. Both people I spoke with on the phone were very helpful and friendly.

My wife was home when the technician arrived and said he was very professional, friendly, and addressed an immediate solution to our issue, along with providing other options for the future.

We will definitely use AC Rimmer in the future.

I am very happy with a c rimmer
HVAC went out in November 2023. Called several local companies with a c rimmer offering the best deal in my opinion for price, system and install time. Technicians showed up as agreed, on time, and did the job as agreed. Love the new system, price, terms and the professional work. New system dropped electric bill enough to pay for itself within two years.
Thank you A C Rimmer, highly recommend.

My wife called them back after they completed a maintenance service because the AC won't work. The service guy returned and claimed that the knob had to be turned on, no repair was needed. Charged 90 dollars again for that visit to turn the knob on. I have canceled their services then, will never call them back. These guys are short-sighted, trying to nickel and dime you at every opportunity instead of maintaining trust with their customers.

After having my own bad experience with AC Rimmer I told my mom not to call them and to call Secco but she did not listen. My mom had a brand new AC unit that would not fire up at the beginning of the season. It was installed in November 2021. Technician identified issue as the condenser and told her that he sees this all the time and the condenser needs replaced. Left her with a $278 bill and was on track to order the condenser. I had her cancel everything and we called Secco. They were out the very next morning and had it fixed in 10 minutes. It was a loose wire. $79 for the visit. AC Rimmer should be ashamed of themselves with the way they conduct themselves...ripping off little old ladies is unacceptable.

It was time for new air conditioner/heater units and
AC Rimmer did an exceptional job to install them with precision and expertise. Specifically the team of Tommy and Aaron- they were knowledgeable, highly skilled and tidied up after they were done as well.
Our units are perfect and A C Rimmer once again exceeded our expectations! Thank you to Mike and also to Brad who reviewed the job expectations, stopped by to make sure his team had everything they needed and made sure we were pleased in every way!
Thank you to all at A C Rimmer as always!

They don't even deserve the one star rating honestly. My family was good enough to come and install a heating/ac unit in 2012 however 2 years later was the first problem and repair issue. This last week we called to have the same problem serviced again and were told because we didn't pay for the annual service contracts, they couldn't come take a look at it. They don't stand behind their work or product! And the customer service was rude beyond belief telling my family to call back another day. Don't waste your money on AC Ripoff. Be warned in advance.

If I could give zero stars to this company, I would. I live in Traditions of America in Mechanicsburg and AC Rimmer is the company they have used to install the HVAC in the homes here. The way they installed the duct work and returns have caused my 2nd floor to be virtually unusable in the winter months because of excessive heat. I have two zones and I leave the heat turned off all winter, yet still have temperatures approaching 80 degrees upstairs, while the thermostat on the first floor is set at 70 degrees. Rimmer's solution to this problem was to suggest leaving the ceiling fans on at all times on the second floor to push the air down as well as to leave the thermostat fan running constantly on the upstairs zone without any heat or AC running. This did provide a small bit of relief, but it is still too uncomfortable for anyone to stay on the second floor during the winter months, so their suggestion is not a viable solution to this problem. I recently had another HVAC company come out to see if they could figure out what the issue is, and they quickly saw that the way the returns and duct work are laid out is causing all of the heat to rise to the ceiling and upstairs. There was a 6 degree difference in the temperature on the floor of my house versus the top of the china closet! This is shoddy workmanship and I would never recommend them!

Our propane water heater was not working so we called our propane company who has a service agreement with A. C. Rimmer. They sent a technician out who stated that the gas control valve needed to be replaced at a cost of $700-$800. He then advised that I should consider maybe replacing the unit if I was going to spend that much on the repair. First, our water heater (and entire house) is only 7 years old. A water heater should not need to be replaced within 7 years. Second, I have worked for a heating oil and propane company in the past and thought that the cost of the repair seemed outrageous. We paid the $110 diagnostic fee (which I was told does not get credited toward the repair) and consulted friends in the industry. We ordered the part and completed the repair for $225. However, the water heater still did not start. Upon further inspection, we found that the ignitor was broken. We drove 45 minutes to Harrisburg and bought a replacement ignitor for $68. The ignitor was replaced in 15 minutes and our water heater works just fine. So, either this company was trying to soak us for an outrageously overpriced repair of $800 (it takes an hour to replace the gas control valve and most of that time is spent draining water) or they were trying to sell us a new water heater that we absolutely did not need or they are incredibly incompetent. None of those possibilities bodes well for them. We spent a week without hot water only to find out that the part was available locally and the repair took 15-20 minutes and cost $68. I would definitely not recommend this company to anyone. I wonder how many unsuspecting customers have been fleeced into paying for unnecessary and overpriced repairs or buying new equipment by them.

I regret hiring AC Rimmer to install my HVAC in my house. Their technician failed to properly level the air handler. Water pooled in the system, causing rust and mold throughout not only the air handler, but also the ductwork. Years later, all the components had to be replaced. The owner refused to make things right with my husband and me - unless we paid him to fix the job he botched. Thousands of dollars later, we're warning others not to fall victim to this amateur company and their shoddy workmanship.
