My husband passed away last year and I am now a first time sole homeowner. My house is 10 years old and we were part time residents until we moved here permanently in 2016 and of course, now things started going haywire.
Jerrod came in the spring, to do a checkup of the A/C and heater and change the filters and alarm batteries. No issues there. Then had a toilet back up, so called again. Took Terry 2 hours of snaking but he got the backup cleared. A couple of months later, I noticed the water pressure seemed low. Terry came again and said the pressure regulator needed replacing. Also had him look at the water heater which I knew had never been drained. He couldn't get it to drain and determined it needed replacing. This last job was also my first time dealing with a home warranty company. Took a week of work and phone calls on both our parts and although it was a hassle for both Terry and myself, it worked out great. Needless to say, Terry and I have built up a good relationship and I discovered how to keep him happy with Dr. Pepper (LOL).
Sure it cost me a bit but considering things were 10 years old, it didn't really surprise me. I really appreciated what Jerrod and Terry did for me and wouldn't hesitate to call again.

We had our main water line spring a leak near the meter. Since we were leaving town the next day we were desperate to find someone to fix it. A-1 came out and told us it would cost about $2,300 because they would have to: cut and replace the concrete sidewalk by the meter, dig and refill a deep trench, and install a new section of pipe. I thought this estimate was way too high and A-1 said that they would try to do it for less. Being desperate and on our way out of town I gave them the go ahead.

Four days later we came back and the leak was fixed. The yard where the 10 foot long trench was dug was a mess. They had put the excavated dirt on one of out bushes which was now dead. Then we got a phone call saying we owed $2,333. We mentioned that we were not happy with the condition in which they left the yard and their answer was, ""Well, sometimes it just doesn't turn out that well.""

Since then I have observed this same repair being done on two other homes in my area. Neither one have had the concrete cut around the meter, the trenches were shallower according to the neighbors, and the yards were put back to their original conditions. Additionally, those jobs, done by other companies, cost much less. One star is being generous to A-1 Services.

We had a pipe from the meter to our home break. This company sent a plumber in a timely manner, he charged us slightly over $200. To lift the cover, turn the water off and vacuum the excess water out. Of course we paid him but opted for a second opinion for the price to complete the job. According to A-1, we would have to pay a second person to cut the cement while we paid him to stand by to fix the pipe. In addition, A-1 did hook up our water via our neighbors outside spigot and had to replace our outdoor water spigot because someone had painted over the threads so it leaked when we turned it on.

We opted for the second company and now have received another bill from A-1 for an additional $105.00. I will not use A-1 again for any of our plumbing needs as I believe we were overcharged.
