Madeline H.edit: the businesses' reply is a bold-faced lie. They were hired by our general contractor, who had everything they needed. The issue was that they failed to coordinate or communicate with our general contractor and tried to wing it. Obviously some blame lies with the general contractor for dropping the ball, but you guys definitely tried to force me to act as my own general contractor. All I'd like is for the owner to be honest and apologise for harassing me and ringing me for thousands of dollars while I was in the hospital.
I really didn't want to post a bad review, but serious problems with 411's plumbing keep cropping up. 411 were hired to do the rough in for a new master bath. The job they did is almost ludicrously bad.
They flooded our bathroom which damaged the ceiling of the hall beneath it (we had to take the light fixture down to dump the pooled water in the sink) and weren't open to discussing it at all. They didn't want to send someone out to look at it, actually telling us to just keep our water mains off for two days (we ended up finding and tightening the loose part ourselves). We laughed about them offering emergency services on their website but resisting sending people out to look at their own work.
The plumbers complained about things the entire time they worked, like that the house was too old or that the way things were built before contemporary building codes is unworkable. They knew the age of the house and the nature of the job before they made their bid, so I don't understand how they couldn't have anticipated those challenges. Jon screamed swear words and slammed down tools whenever he felt frustrated, which wouldn't have bothered me had I not been trying to work downstairs and had he not scratched the heck out of our tub floor. They didn't protect surfaces, didn't clean up after themselves, and somehow left not only their workspace but other parts of our house a huge mess.
They plumbed through what was obviously a very deliberately framed out access panel that our general contractor had installed to meet code. When our general contractor had them move it they tried to charge us an extra $2000 for correcting their own mistake. I disputed this and, once again, Cyndy was unwilling to discuss it.
Here's where our faith in 411 took a nosedive: while this was in dispute I was in an accident in which I actually lost my right arm. Cyndy knew this yet hounded my family over the bill while I was in the hospital, which is probably among the most callous things I've ever experienced, lol. She really went out of her way to make the worst week of my life even harder.
She eventually knocked off the $2000, but when we asked her to talk about the quality of the work and the fact that we'd need to get our ceiling repaired she dug her heels in. We eventually just paid because we were so overwhelmed by the injury and all the surgeries I needed through January.
After things settled down we resumed construction of the bathroom and the new company we hired has been confounded by the sheer negligence of the work. The drain for the sink was nowhere near the tap and neither were remotely centered nor at heights that could possibly be usable, so the entire vanity had to re-plumbed. For the shower they hadn't anticipated the depth of the Hardiebacker--not as in they assumed a different depth, but in that they plumbed it as though the taps would be installed on the studs, which is astoundingly unprofessional. When we turned on the shower the pipes leaked in the wall. The valve has labels for three different taps (diverter, shower, handheld) and the handheld and shower are swapped. Like come on, it literally has a very clear image of the destination on the valve plate.
Before we had to pay to get half the plumbing in the bathroom redone I was just going to let it go. The quality of work is insultingly poor and we were very much ripped off.
I'm not sure how the company is going to try to refute or defend any of this because it's all so egregious. They put so little care and thought into the project, our home, and any potential future relationship. Cyndy doesn't care if you're lying on your death bed while your family is trying to coordinate flying people out to see you--she will get her money. The possibly funniest part of all this is that even without the $2000 they still billed us for over double the original quote. Both the bid assessment and their work was done in a room that was just studs, and I'd provided them with a list of model numbers all our fixtures and parts. I understood that there was plumbing through closed walls to the sewer stack that presented some unique challenges they couldn't have seen, and was more than happy to pay for those extra problems. However, when the exact same thing happened for the plumbing for the taps and toilet I had to wonder if there even any unexpected problems at all or if they were just trying to take advantage of us the whole time.
Wendi N.Mitch was amazing! All my plumbing is fixed finally! He was on time and worked through the day until the job is finished! I have yet to see the price because they said they're sending me a bill but I hear that they're very reasonable as well which is nice because honesty is hard to find. At this point I would definitely recommend them because I have done and complete remodel on my home and not many people are dependable or honest
Kresta A.We had 411 Plumber out to hook up a water line for our new fridge and to move a sewer vent pipe. They were on time, very nice, very fast, and the whole thing was under budget. I will be calling them again!
Oscar P.This is a bit of a story but it is needed to get perspective. Long story short: Sewer was plugged with paper towels flushed down the toilet. The drain had been cleaned a few months prior by another plumber. Multiple flushes would fill up the pipe and come up in the shower than drain out over a short period of time. I do maintenance work for a local condo ownership company and this isn't my first rodeo with this kind of thing. Called 411 and, to their credit, they came a day early. All I wanted them to do was remove the toilet (because there is no clean-out in this house) and clean out the drain. From what I was able to deduce, I felt that the obstruction was about 20 feet (+/-) down the pipe and mentioned that to them when they were diagnosing the problem. Two guys came (one was the owner I believe) walked around the house a few times and made quite few assumptions as to why they couldn't do what I wanted them to do - that all proved, in the end, to be wrong. Rather then run the clean-out from the toilet (pretty standard way of doing things) they said that the drain would have to be dug up next to the foundation (about 40 feet or so from the toilet) and worked at from that point to the street, clean-out added, and it would be approximately $1500.00. Just before they left, I asked them one more time, clearly, that all I wanted them to do was remove the toilet and clean out the 3"" drain as I felt that the paper towel blockage was under the house about 20 feet from the toilet. He declined as he couldn't ""guarantee the work"" based on his faulty above ground assumptions. He handed me an invoice for 75 bucks and left. The next day in desperation I climbed under the house myself, disconnected the pipe (cast iron), peered in and looked at the blockage. Hauled the length of pipe from under the house and cleaned it out with a hose. Crawled back under the house, reinstalled the pipe. Took about an hour or less and me getting dirty (which I wanted to avoid). Everything works fine.
411 plumber is awesome and highly recommend this company. Prices and service absolutely cannot be beat!
Tara C.I cannot say thank you enough to 411 Plumber and the owner, Ambrose, for their speedy, thorough, and professional service to us when our sewer line broke. We had plans to go out of town and Ambrose kept us, our tenants and the neighbors informed all along the way. There were no surprises whatsoever. And his estimate and final invoice could not be beat. I HIGHLY recommend 411 Plumber and will continue to use them for our plumbing needs. Thank you Ambrose and team!!!
The strongest praise you can give someone in this business is that you trust them. We all want to preserve our hard earned money and deal with fair and honest businesses. 411 Plumber lost my trust and my business and this rating is to warn anyone else before they suffer the same fate. My plumbing problem was fixed with an expensive replaced part by 411 Plumber and then it broke within a few months. They came out and addressed the problem but charged $100's more for the ""emergency"" service. This is not the way to treat any customer let alone a loyal customer.
Late Sunday afternoon discovered our floor drain in our downstairs laundry room, had backed up and 1/3 of our LR floor was covered with water, and sewage (yuck) :( Called RR and they had someone here in 1 hour, cleaned out the drain pipes 100ft out to the street, and before he left another fellow from their restoration service arrived and started on the clean-up and will come the following day to finish it up.
Husband was away and was so thankful to receive such quick and efficient service on a Sunday evening. Thank you RR, Sincerely, ILL
Our tub faucet was leaking. I couldn't reach my landlord so I called 411 Plumber. When Ambrose heard that it had been leaking for 2 days, he squeezed us in to his already full schedule. I told him on the phone what kind of valve we have. He brought a replacement and installed it quickly and efficiently. I would definitely call him again if we have more plumbing needs and highly recommend him.
Bob W.I have dealt with many residential contractors over the years, and each time it ends up being an adventure, but not with 411!
Ambrose sets the bar for service and integrity. I would not endorse anyone else other than Ambrose. He has repaired faulty work of other plumbers, and installed new fixtures and hose bibs at my home.
Don't hesitate to call 411!
