Great service and follow through on multiple plumbing jobs. Their employees have integrity. Multiple times, they've been in a position to pressure me into expensive jobs and instead told me to go with a cheaper option. In fact, I asked them to come to my house once to do a job, and they convinced me it wasn't necessary and left without charging me.

Highly recommended!

Both times that I have called 217, they have responded promptly and professionally. They have helped me de-root tree roots from our sewer line, and fix a toilet clog that could not be cracked by my plunger. Their plumbers go the extra mile by providing advice--what type of toilet paper to use, how to take care of the tree roots regularly, plunger recommendations--and are never condescending. They are on the pricier end.

Had a problem where the pilot light to the water heater kept blowing out when there would be high winds (30+ mph). My last service provider wasn't able to fix it. So I gave this business a call. The tech that came figured the gas valve was going bad. The valve was covered under warranty, but I had to pay for the labour. Decided to use this business for my HVAC.

We've used 217 for years and have always been taken good care of but yesterday they went to a whole new level. We had a loss in our family yesterday morning and our family began to arrive from around the country. Our daughter, after traveling all day, jumped in the shower and there was no hot water. We called 217 last night and Patrick didn't hesitate for a moment. Our boiler system is unusual and he had to have the supply warehouse opened for him to get the parts. As he came in and out of the house he was so friendly and confident and put us completely at ease, knowing we'd be back up and running before he left. Thank you 217 and thank you Patrick! We have several family members who are hoping for a 217 shirt!!

Went to turn on my furnace last week, and we were without heat. Igniter wouldn't go, so I called 217 at about 10pm on a Saturday. They picked up immediately, and we set an appointment for the next day. They came out on time, diagnosed the problem immediately, and then solved it within the next hour. The technician, Patrick, was friendly and very knowledgeable. The service charge was a little steep ($120), but for a quick resolution to the problem, it was worth it. Would definitely recommend.

This company doesn't seem it knows how to manage their works. Having being promised to perform a state mandated water test in our facility more than a month ago due to their busy business, no technician ever came to do their job, not even a phone call to tell us so in advance. Calling them to find out why and to reschedule is just seemingly a waste of time, going nowhere. Very frustrated.

Someone recommended me to this company. I contacted them almost 3 months ago for a quote and have to continuously call to check on the quote. I have still yet to receive it

I have always used 217 Heating & Cooling since they started doing business in the area. Lucas and his team are very knowledgeable, courteous, and fair. Why am I deciding to review now? Well, let's just say I was in a very big predicament. I called Lucas; and, I told him my predicament. (Now, this is for their sister company 217 Plumbing). He sent Bob out to my location, and essentially spent two days in diagnosing and correcting my issue. The entire time they were at my location, the underlying tone was 'we gotta take care of our customer'. I asked Lucas for a 'ballpark' estimate; and, he gave me one (we have never had a trust issue). He gave me the bill today; and, it was 20% LESS and he got the job done quicker than originally estimated. This issue was fixed on Thursday, January 19, 2017. As of January 24, 2017, I have received a text/call every other day making sure my issue (a large one) is completely a memory. For you yelp readers, there are other companies out there.....some are good and some are bad.....save yourself the trial and error.....honesty, integrity, customer service, and a fair price with 217.....

Let me say up front that I've never once dealt with a contractor that had both great customer service and reasonable rates. The rare company that has great service invariably has outrageous rates, and even those are hard to find. That said, here's what happened:

1) Setup an appointment for someone to come by Monday and give me a quick estimate on installing my new water heater (ordered myself but contractor I had wanted to install it is out sick). They were courteous, helpful, and professional.
2) Monday came and went; no call.
3) Tuesday morning, someone called around 9:30 and said they were ready to come by immediately. They gave me an estimate that was rather high, but not outrageous. I accepted. They said it would be an all-day affair and would block off the entire day Friday for the work.
4) By Friday at 9:45AM I thought they'd screwed up again, so I called, and they said they were on a service call and would arrive soon. I was nervous the work wouldn't be done today and I'd be left without hot water.
5) Work was completed professionally and without major incident, except that didn't tell me that they wouldn't be hauling away my old water heater. No biggie for me personally, but good service would include mentioning this up-front. Also, this could have been a bigger problem for someone without a truck or trailer. Finally, there were at least 3 different incidents were the two guys sent out didn't talk to each other and what was done by one guy was not what was promised to me by the other guy. I'm still not 100% confident the lack of drain pan and overpressure drain were installed to code...
6) I poked my head up on Monday and noticed they didn't complete the electrical connections to code. I called the office and the person I spoke to was helpful, buuut... he gave me some weird run-around about how some water heaters don't include the space for put the junction inside the water heater. He made it sound like he was justifying not following code. They were polite though, and the guy they sent out promptly confirmed that (a) they did screw this up, and (b) under no circumstances would this ever be to code, so the guy in the office didn't seem to know what he was talking about. He fixed it quickly and without any hassle.

Oh and the bill just had a price on it with no itemized anything. No parts, no labor... just a price. I know from experience that this is a BIG red flag that screams ""we're charging you the absolute max we can get away with!"" Note that this was a time & materials bill, not a fixed bid. Bogus.

So long story short... polite and courteous, but not necessarily done right. And quite possibly screwing their customers. I would not recommend you entrust your house, your equipment, or your schedule to them. Maybe they'll improve with time. They actually seemed like honest & decent people, but very little they did left me feeling good about them.
