The manager Aaron C. from 1st Pick Home Improvement came to our home for quote and talked to us more details and answered our questions signed contract by using fake business card with the company name is ""1st pick improvement LLC ""instead of "" 1st pick home improvement LLC , and told us they just changed office location from Delaware to Gahana, talked to us face to face the project will start Jan.31st 2022 and finish deadline March 31,2022. The first week they did framing Feb 1-4, and did dry wall on second week Feb7-10. , then three weeks disappeared until Mar.16-17 hired two very unprofessional young men did the painting, After Mar.17, Aaron C. completely disappeared, no responding for any calls, text messages, and voice messages. We paid $25,950, they left the project messy there, just finished $15,000 partial work, still left more than $20,000 work not done yet. Never got permit from county which written down on the list at the beginning . After posted review on media, he contacted me by phone, we agree to sign another extension contract until 4/30/22, he kept a saying that he supposed sending people to do this or do that either next day or Friday etc, one month later until extension contract deadline 4/30/22, he never send anyone to do the project at all, I send him text message every week, never got his reply. The partial works done at the beginning was terrible, we have to hire another company to fix it.
Was a little slow starting out ( guessing finishing up other jobs ) but after that they was fantastic and everything turned out just like we pictured and then some. They was a fair price and actually used quality Materials instead of contractor grade stuff and they where on time everyday and kept everything clean and made the basement still useable while work was on going
Please avoid engaging in a contract with 1st Pick Home Improvement or their main contractor Aaron Cowans to save your time and money! They contracted with us to finish basement, took most of the payments and left the work mid-way. They did not secure any building permits from the County to begin with, made false promises of their expertise and did negligent execution of various builds within basement. There was a lot of absenteeism, unfinished work, sloppy/shabby work on whatever is complete. This has resulted in considerable rework for us to finish the basement as most of the electric, plumbing and even drywalls were done incorrectly. They have absolutely no respect for their clients. I know of at least 2 families currently working with attorneys to pursue case against them.
This business just replaced a tile backsplash in my kitchen and did an awful job, and it will have to be torn out and replaced - on my dime, as they are claiming it's just ""edge work"" and can be fixed. They installed broken glass tiles (instead of using a new tile when they broke it trying to cut it), don't know how to line edges up or cut the right size tiles so gaps don't have to be filled with grout (and sloppily at that), left grout and caulk all OVER my kitchen, left outlet covers that won't stay on because of the tiles behind them, and then tell me it's MY fault that I didn't find all of their mistakes before they were dashing out the door. I hired THEM to be the experts/professionals here - yet they think it's acceptable to leave this kind of work behind?? THIS is the ""quality"" they tout all over their FB and web page? Ridiculous.
Update: this business is now claiming they have never worked with us however with a simple click we can go to their listed website and see our home in their recent work photos.
We have now hired new contractors to come in and fix the work down with Aaron and his team completed. The new contractors were astonished to see how much was not only not up to code but done improperly. We will now be spending additional money to have the work ripped out and fixed.
Very disappointing experience overall.
